We all know that benchmarks and real world performance don’t necessarily go hand in hand, but when something manages to raise the bar like the new Rockhip RK3288 people tend to take notice.
Rockchip, a Chinese manufacturer of processors designed for tablet and wearable use, launched its latest SoC in April during the Hong Kong Electronics fair. At the time of launch Rockchip announced that the RK3288 would be a game changer and now Antutu scorers are in we can see they weren’t all talk.
Gizchina News of the week
For these Antutu scores which reached over 40,000 points the Rockchip RK3288 was tested in a tablet running Android 4.4 Kitkat, with 2GB RAM and a Mali-T760 GPU. The results are pretty astonishing are well on par with the likes of the Nvidia Tegra K1 and Snapdragon 801 SoC models.
Manufactures including Five and Pipo are already rumoured to be testing tablets running the RK3288, and we can’t wait to see them in stores!

The real question is, how much power does it consume? I am sure a 4GHz P4 Prescot core would score about 9 million on antutu but it would last about 10 minutes even on a car battery.
I spoke directly with a representative this week from Pipo and the energy efficiency shown of the new Pipo P1 using the RK3288 is impressive
One reseller of the Pipo P1 is iProTablet – and they’ll have stock of the new Pipo P1 the second week of June
Total Antutu scores are for noobs, you need to look at each section to figure out anything. This thing scores a lot in the UX section ,good but not that great in the CPU area and clearly well below Tegra K1 on the GPU side (even assuming the test is done at high res, since Antutu seems to test GPU on screen not off-screen). Ofc nobody expects this to compete in the high end and it remains to be seen how much power Intel has at Rockchip now and if they can kill their ARM based SoCs.
will the pipo be 4G LTE?
