Huawei’s Honor 3C is still known to be a great budget device, but for those who don’t agree here’s something — the Honor 3C Play.
Priced at a nominal 599 CNY or $97, the Honor 3C Play aka the Honor 3C Play Edition is basically a knocked down version of the original Honor 3C. This Play Edition phone comes with just 1GB of RAM as opposed to 2GB on the original version, but is quite a lot lighter on the wallet as well.
Specifications
Gizchina News of the week
- 5-inch 1280 x 720p display
- 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6582 CPU
- 1GB RAM
- 16GB on-board storage, expandable
- 8 mega-pixel rear camera
- 2 mega-pixel front camera
- 2300mAh battery
At just $97, the Honor 3C looks like a great option for those who are just looking to step into the world of Android. Of course, there are other options in this range, but hardly any offer the quality and reliability of Huawei.
Recommended: Xiaomi Redmi 1S review
Xiaomi’s Redmi 1S could be seen as a direct competitor to this one, but Xiaomi’s phones are still pretty hard to get hold of. There are also other phones such as the Asus Zenfone series that offer similar VFM.
Which one would you go for, between the Redmi 1S, Asus Zenfone series and the Honor 3C Play? Do let us know.
Wasn’t this called Lite not Play? W/e the case, not bad device.
Anyway , this reminds me that the Redmi 1 should get a 2 in a few months, curious if they just upgrade to a quad A53 or they also also up the res to 1080p (would be wise to keep the size).
Edit: pretty sure it has 4GB NAND not 16
Edit2: Xiaomi just launched the Redmi at 99$ in India so a China price cut should be incoming.
Thanks for the update, it will be corrected soon.
Redmi 1S with its killer camera and 2GB RAM could really be something. Xiaomi don’t like being beaten on the budget war, so lets see what this brings 🙂
By the way, I have a question for Redmi 1S users. Is 1GB of RAM enough or an inconvenient for a daily use? I agree that 2GB of RAM for the Redmi 1S would have been perfect. The LTE version looks worse than the WCDMA one in terms of hardware.
Depends, if you use Chrome + 2/3 other apps regularly then you might find 1GB a bit underpowered.

Thanks for the answer, I have read some reviews on the internet and it looks like some users are happy with the 1GB RAM and some are a bit disappointed (those who are using many apps at the same time). Apparently recent ROM updates help to better manage the RAM and upcoming release of MIUI V6 might improve that point (but when????). It is not that easy to find the perfect phone and I have the feeling that I have to pay more than 300€ to get the right one even if I don’t see the point of having a CPU clocked at 2,5GHz and 3GB of RAM. I mean that it is just marketing but I respect companies strategy, it is all about business!
I sold my Redmi 1S cause as Abir said MIUI is a RAM munching monster and a lot if apps crashed cause of the memory
Thanks for sharing your point of view. Damn I really wanted to order that phone and now I am lost again. I don’t understand Xiaomi’s strategy to release a Redmi 1S LTE version if the 1GB RAM is not enough for MIUI. I am really tired looking for the right phone…do I really need to invest more than 300 bucks for a phone?
كي گفته يعني زير 400 هزارتومن اگه اين طور بود من خودم يه خدمات مبايلي باز ميكنم 100 تا ميخرم ميريزم توش بعد از يك ساعت همشو ميفروشم
I would think 1gig of RAM would be quite sufficient on vanilla android but on MIUI? pfff. Its a RAM munching monster.
Seriously only $97? 😀
Should cost 150$ through resellers.
Update: 4GB ROM
Why don’t you edit whole article then?
Can We expect IUNI to come to india Bro?
Can’t really say at the moment, but if I were you I’d keep my hopes low!
