TCL Hero 2 announced with 8-core CPU, LTE and stylus

TCL, or Alactel OneTouch, depending on here you live, have announced the Hero 2 6-inch phablet with added LTE.

When TCL released the Hero this year, it was the first, and remained the only (until recently) smartphone to use the 2.0Ghz Mediatek MT6592T octacore processor. The phone also hosted a large display that took up almost 90% of the front of the phone.

For the TCL Hero 2 the design remains similar with a 6-inch 1080 display ,and ergonomic alloy body creating one of the most comfortable and lightweight 6-inch phablets on the market at only 175g.

The Hero 2 gets a stylus, allowing you to make handwritten notes, edit files and photos and generally interact with the phone for productive and even gaming purposes. There is also an interesting mini DJ panel that lets you mix your own tracks too.

Gizchina News of the week

As for hardware the phone gets the same 2.0Ghz Mediatek MT6592 processor, but this is now coupled with an MT6290 LTE modem for 4G LTE Cat 4 support. The 6-inch display is an OGS, fully laminated Dragontail panel with an oleophobic coating to keeps smudges and smears sat bay.

Android 4.4 Kitkat, a 13 mega-pixel main camera and large 3100mAh battery make up the rest of the package. Pricing in China won’t be cheap with Chinese tech sites quoting a price of around 2999 Yuan for the 6-inch device.

What do you think of the latest TCL smartphone, good value or were you hoping for more bang for your buck?

Behhh…wrong procesor. 6595 would be much better choise, especially considering price of tcl/Alcatel models…. for same price you could buy mi4 and much other smartphones

I dunno, if this is under $300 it could be a decent alternative for 6″ lover.

Why they didn’t use the new MT6595, il don’t understand why so many constructor launch new model with an old processor.

Maybe than Mediatek don’t arrive to produce their new processor ?

Its the second time they do this. The hero 1 had an already obsolete processor when announced, and it was de MT6592T that made it obsolete. Now they are using that one while there is already the MT6595. They keep doing that and I keep buying galaxy notes, even if this phone is way sexier…

I love the Note, one of the few phones over 5 inches I like, just absolutely hate Samsung’s version of Android.

For 6 inch body that 3100 mah battery is not near huge. At least 4000 and we are talking.

ehmm… guys the phone is 7.9 mm thick. How can they fit in a 4000 battery?

      ain’t samsung’s Note 4 8.5 mm thick and has a 3220 mAH battery?

Not to mention their stylus usable no where near Samsung galaxy note. Their stylus is more to meaningless. I tested their Hero before. Writing using their stylus no as accurate as note.

Beautiful phone but too big, 5.5 is the max screen I want and even that is pushing it. My tablet is 7 inches I don’t want to carry anything close to that in my pocket.

This CPU would be good before 6 months … now its a step back for a new phone … 6595 needed here … Alcatel is so slow … and expensive
