Android smartwatches and wearables have come along way from the bulky, ugly wrist weights they once were, and we are now starting to see devices that we would happily be seen wearing. The Tommy smartwatch for $74.99 is certainly one of them.
While the name could certainly do with some work, the Tommy smartwatch does offer quite a nice design, much better looking than previous attempts, and in my opinion, better looking than the LG G Watch. The price of the Tommy is also much more attraction than any LG, Motorola or Samsung wearable too, as it retails at just $74.99.
Specifications of the Tommy smartwatch say that the wearable is compatible with devices running on Android 4.4 or iOS device, and that the battery has an incredible 21 day life! Which is likely down to the Sharp LCD display rather than the colour panels we have seen on Android Wear devices.
Gizchina News of the week
Features include the usual notification of incoming calls, emails and messages, plus you have wireless music control and camera control thrown in too. Custom watch faces will be available as will apps, although we are not sure if it has it’s own market or can just work with certain apps from Google Play. It is also likely that their will be a few health related features too and the Tommy can survive in up to 5m of water.
The Tommy will come in black and red to start and there are also white versions planned too.
From the specs, and the design it looks to be a good looking watch, and at the price an interesting first wearable. What do you think of the Tommy? Let us know in the comments below.
Looks like a winner, any features like Activity logging, like steps taken, or anything related to fitness?
Also will it vibrate to notifications ?
Yes to both my questions.

So the screen is black and white 1.26 inch 144 x 168 and the battery is small but the device is not thinner than other watches.
I will do a review of this one soon. Ordered one on Friday.
Hi there Chris! Hope you received your smart watch. Waiting for your review 😉
Yep, for a week now. So far it is not usable. It is a beta product it seems. Doesn’t work with the majority of phones, so I couldn’t do any in-depth tests. I am waiting for some updates until I do the review.
Here it works just fine. Needs fine-tuning but connecting to my phones perfectly.

Be happy. For most people it doesn’t work or stops working after a while. Either can’t be connected at all or looses it again and again without re-connecting automatically. It appears to be working better with brand phones (LG, Sony, etc.) than Chinese phones (both cheap ones as well as Oppo – tested myself). I hope future firmware updates will fix those bugs.
Seems to be a MTK issue for the most part.
Did test 2 Tommy’s with: Xperia Z, Iphone 4S, OPO, Jiayu G4S, THL 5K, Galaxy S5, Iphone 6 and few more. Only the MTK phones had problems connecting.
Probably some Bluetooth implementation that is missing/working in a different way. Its quite a shame, lets hope that Weloop/MTK can fix it with software and that its not a chipset limitation.
I did test it with quite a few Snapdragon devices as well. I came to the conclusion that everything Chinese is making trouble. A shame considering where the watch is coming from.
Indeed, weird. OPO is Chinese but that one seems to work.
Hope to do some more tests with a Nubia and some snapdragon 400 devices (Xiaomi) from China soon.
Hope to find a consistency so it could be reported back to Weloop. They seem to be willing to fix things 🙂
There are rumors a huge update is coming soon. I am praying already this will fix everything 🙂
They are trying hard to fix things its seems. So i have faith :).
Battery Life is the only thing that matters in a smartwatch. Honestly i’m not buying the 21 days claim. And does it have Android Wear or something else?
EDIT
Never Mind it is black and white.
I think it says 50 Meters underwater and not 5. Thats awesome btw. If all it’s true about this smart watch
1) Waterproof check
2) 21 days check
3) control my music while im on bike check
Then instabuy is a check also
Well since i see 4 buttons on the watch, i’m guessing that its not a touchscreen.
110mAh when others are 200-400? Worries me
