Although not officially announced, it seems certain that Meizu are on track to release a Meizu MX4 Pro, and just as we saw with the current MX4 we can expect an exciting price point.
The Meizu MX4 represented a lot of firsts for Meizu. It was the first Meizu to get a Mediatek chip, it was the first phone to use the octacore MT6595 SoC, it was the first Meizu to get LTE and it was the first Meizu to launch at below 2000 Yuan.
We’ve been pretty impressed with the MX4 and for it’s 1799 Yuan asking price feel that it is an amazing device, but it is no flagship, as some are incorrectly stating.
The MX4 is Meizu’s top mid-ranger, it isn’t a flagship device that phone we will be seeing around later October or early November according to sources. Sources are also saying that pricing could start at only 1999 Yuan for the base model MX4 Pro, rising to 2500 Yuan for the 64GB(?) version.

If correct these prices will have Meizu competing directly with the Xiaomi Mi4, OnePlus One, IUNI U3 and Nubia Z7, so what about the specs? Well the screen is believed to be a larger 5.4-inch 2K model (so not the same body as the current MX4), Samsung’s octacore 5430 chipset is rumoured as is 3GB RAM, 20.7 mega-pixel camera and built in finger-print reader!
The big question on our lips though is will international pricing be as keen, or will foreign fans have to pay higher prices to get the flagship Meizu MX4 Pro?

Just bought a redmi 1s for someone. All sorts of problems with stupidly high ram usage and apps force closing. After looking at the forum it seems there are massive problems not being addressed on the redmi 1s and a lot of xiaomi devices. I think if xiaomi keep it up then people will eventually stop buying their products. Meizu have a real chance now I think, if they can deliver some good polished devices that don’t suffer from the software issues xiaomi seem to ignore then they could really strengthen their position in the market. Wish they would put out a low end redmi 1s competitor at the same price.
More people look for high specs for low prices and are not willing to spend a little more money for quality software engeneering.
good god, that’s interesting, I thought Xiaomi are doing everything ‘right’ over in China..? That’s opened my eyes then, they’re obvsiously not as ‘perfect’ as everyone makes out!
I agree about Xiaomi quality. I am a not so happy owner of Redmi Note. It certainly has some advantages, but I got tired of software bugs and bad performance, so I’m now trying to sell it. I was hoping that in a month or two they would polish the firmware and get rid of bugs and interface lags, but that still has not happened.
I guess Chinese manufacturers are still wanting in their support levels for their devices. They really need to step it up. They are doing amazing things making these cool devices, but they need to sort out problems with the ones that are not working. make not mistake, the ones that work well. I buy phones in China and sell in Africa. Non of my Xiaomi customers have complained yet, i’m lucky.

I don’t understand why are the dimensions of mx4pro bigger than in normal mx4? I can see that the screen size is the same for both phones.
I guess if you’re rounding the MX4’s 5.36″ screen up, then yes, they are both the same size, but without rounding up, this 5.4″ 2K panel would be bigger… (only slightly though, so you’d like to think they can just eat into the bezels slightly instead of increasing the physical dimensions..?)
They are gonna wreck us with a international price its not even funny. In China the mx4 is just what 299$? But from international resellers its 440$? Sometimes online I see 330$ for it and then it varies from site to site. Most of the prices I’ve seen Where high like oppos phone prices high and that’s pretty expensive since they don’t offer good enough updates. If these guys wanna make it out there they need to start updating and listening to customers who buy their product.
Thats not the case of Meizu alone. All of such low price high spec high demand phones from china going through reseller is as such. You have to wait 3-5months for price to come down, or hope that they officially release it outside China.
exactly ! for instance, the xiaomi mi4 was launched for around 320usd for the 16gb variant, and if one wants to buy it online, it is available for 400$ usd + shipping(30-50$ dhl) + taxes, customs at the port of destination (which varies by country) so the estimated price if i imported one from china to my country (india)was around 480-500$ usd, which is in no way a cheap price tag as projected,and it is not really worth paying when i can buy the htc one e8 for around 500$ or 30000₹ inr , which is better , this is just an example, there are many other examples as well,
Exciting times… Though, I’ll wait and see the pricing for the international market… I really need to get the misses a top phone for Christmas without breaking the bank… It’s either gonna be this, or a 64gb IUNI U3 if I can get one…

Yep, I own a OnePlus One, chuffed to bits with it, but I think they’re too big for girly hands so I’ll be getting my better half something smaller (plus it’ll be fun to try something different)
Which LATA are you located in? I’m quite enjoying my US based LG G3. Especially now that Google has integrated Google Voice with Google Hangouts.
They didn’t “ruin” the OS so much, so it was fairly easy to disable most of the “value added” stuff and replace the launcher with Google Now. I also added the Google “L” keyboard and a few other things to undo their US changes.
When I get back to HK, I’m going to go buy a Nubia Z7 (not the deprecated Z7 Max)… that is, if it’s finally shipping by then!

if we have a meizu mx4 pro with samsung octacore ,3gb ram ,2k screen at 350-400$ i will hands down buy it , but meizu already screwed internation buyers once, they should not do it again,or we will turn our back on them even if they make the best phone.

Just a quick question, I am deeply interested by the MX4 Mini and was wondering if someone know when exactly the device will be on sale? I was planning to buy the Redmi 1s but so many people are facing bad RAM management because of MIUI OS. It is crazy that Xiaomi haven’t been able to fix related complaints since the release of the phone.

Thanks Andi for your reply, finding the right phone is a very long process. MX4 and IUNI U3 are great phones but are too big for me. I mean that above 5″ it is impossible to use the phone with one hand. I really hope that Meizu will release an MX4 Mini version. UMI ZERO might be a very good alternative to these phones. Because of the competition, Xiaomi are finally opening their eyes by doing some announcements with new phones in development. They should have released a true mid range phone a few months ago around 240€ with at least 2GB DDR3 RAM 16GB ROM with micro SD memory expansion up to 64GB, a snapdragon 615 CPU and a 3000 mAh removable battery for a screen size between 4,7″ – 5″. Peace!
Too bad the Meizu MX4 doesn’t come as Dual-SIM and that it has the looks of an old iPhone.

How about the integrated wolfson sound in the mediatek chip? Will the pro get an other dedicated chip?
