First it was Philips, then Meizu and now technology company Bird have joined up with Alibaba to launch a YunOs powered phone.
Bird are very well known in China for their basic feature phones and flip phones and took the plunge this year in to the smartphone market with a couple of octacore devices. The Xiaolong phone was one of those devices, and the XL version is the larger 5.9-inch phablet model that now comes with Alibaba’s YunOS.
Gizchina News of the week
The XL costs 1399 Yuan in China with octacore processor, 2GB RAM and 13 mega-pixel Sony sensor. Dual SIM support is also sandwiched between the all glass 6.5mm phone although each sim only allows access to 3G or GSM networks.
Like most companies, Bird are offering the Snapdragon XL for a special price during Singles day on the 11th November. We’ve not seen any Bird phone show up in international E-commerce stores but the device looks good for the price and it might be worth hunting one down.
