The flagship JiaYu S3 gets photographed alongside our old favourite the Jiayu G4.
It’s safe to say that The JiaYu G4 is an all time classic. It’s a phone that has aged well and been updated to keep it relevant even over a year on, but even classic devices need to be updated to keep up with market demand.
JiaYu have posted photos of the G4 next to their new flagship S3 to show us just how much has changed between the two phones, obviously the size has grown a lot, but a few other details a notable too.
The G4 is a 4.7-inch phone, the JiaYu S3 a 5.5-inch so obvious the new phone is both wider and longer. In comparison to the older phone the new device looks huge, but dimensions of 152 x 75.5 x 8.9mm actually show it is about average for a 5.5-inch phone.

Design of the rear has been greatly improved on the S3 too with a more curved rear panel that can nicely fit in to the palm of your hand. We also prefer the center camera and dual flash position on the JiaYu S3 too.
From the side the new S3 appears to be a wafer of a device, but that’s more to do with clever design rather than simply making the phone thinner. The S3 is actually 1.1mm thinner than the G4 but that curved rear gives a really narrow and modern appearance.
We’re hoping that the regular release of these photos means that JiaYu are nearing an official release date for the 64bit, LTE equipped S3 phone.

I prefer the G4, just not a fan of the larger phones, infact thinking of getting one – does anyone know if they can be rooted and/or AOSP ?
got my g4s a month a go.. they actually come rooted so flashing it to android 4.4 was a piece of cake
The Jiayu come rooted no problem for that!
And that’s also what makes Jiayu a big winner in the industry !
I love my G4B and I’m about to buy a G4S. There is no serious competitor for the price/specs: good battery, good screen, good size, dual sim, good perfs, easy to update (rooted from factory). The only missing stuff is 4G, but you get Wifi everywhere these days, and maybe a better GPS (not really an issue: I use an external bluetooth GPS receiver that doesn’t eat so much the battery of my phone. If you’re interested: QStarz BT-Q818XT and the free perfect “Bluetooth GPS” application to connect to it).

It come prerooted, however sometimes you need to enable superuser on developer option first. After that you can simply install mobileuncle to flash a custom recovery like CWM and flash AOSP rom readily available from there.
@Andi, in the last post on S3 you were speculating the release to be late this year or early next year. You think they are very near to releasing this as mentioned in this post? May be they want to be first Vs Wa Phone (which is speculated to be released early december) with same chipset?!! Hmmm!!

Nice phone but I prefer the size of the G4S would I buy an S3? probably.
Man, Jiayu make good devices, but why they are so thick? Even with good batteries, they could make it more thin, their phones could be more pocket friend.
I have yet to find a phone with a serious battery for what a G3T retails for. So far every maker has tried to make their phone as thin as possible without regard to the customer’s needs.
My g4a came with a silicon-plastic case. A few weeto dekks ago, I stopped using the case, and is a very different phone. I prefer it to my Iocean X7 & THL W200S, because of its smaller screen size and larger battery.
Mine is modified with blobs of dark hot-melt-glue; two on the top corners, and four blobs on the bottom of the front screen. This glue is easily knocked off, without damaging the original screen or the added screen-film. But it stays on the screen film better. These blobs enable to operate the phone for the most common functions, sight unseen: positive feedback that I’ve touched the correct one of the three capacitive buttons, or locating the mUSB or headphone sockets.
An added bonus is that it better protects the screen from scratches, or face-down drops, without adding bulk & weight.
The other mod is that I’ve made the cutout for removing the back-plate bigger. It is much easier to remove that back cover. An unexpected bonus is that when I drop the unit, the battery flies out, since the back-plate comes off easier. This “absorbs” the shock, so damages the phone less. The engineers amongst us know how important that is.
