After a lot of leaks, Huawei finally made the Honor 6 Plus official today at an event in Beijing. As previously believed, the Honor 6 Plus does indeed come with dual rear cameras, and we can bet all our money on the fact that that’s exactly what the phone’s USP is.
This isn’t the first time we’re looking at a phone with dual rear cameras; but we sure as hell haven’t seen one with two 8 mega-pixel sensors on the same side before. Yeah, you read it right, the Honor 6 Plus comes with two 8 mega-pixel sensors, both on the rear. As you would expect, this allows you to perform all sorts of tricks, including adding filters, re-focusing on certain areas after clicking the picture. Additionally, the Honor 6 Plus also allows you to re-adjust aperture after the shot is taken! To complete the magic ‘888’, the front camera too is an 8 mega-pixel sensor… so you’re certain about getting some quality selfies on the Honor 6 Plus.

Speaking of the front, there’s also a 5.5-inch 1080p panel on the device, which means that the Plus version isn’t going to replace the Honor 6 that came with a smaller screen. Again, the panel comes from JDI so you know its going to be pretty decent; we’ve seen a lot of Chinese OEMs opt of JDI screen in the past year or so. Under the rather simple looking exterior, Huawei have fitted an octa-core Kirin 925 homebrew CPU, along with an I3 co-processor that doesn’t take too much power, and takes care of your fitness and such. There’s also an infrared blaster in tow so you don’t need to reach out to your TV remote all the time.
Besides, it has 3GB of RAM — as much as the original Honor 6 — along with 16GB/32GB of internal storage… which can be taken up to 128GB via means of microSD. It also has a rather good looking (on paper at least) 3600mAh battery, which as Huawei doesn’t fail to mention, is of greater capacity than the iPhone 6 Plus, which co-incidentally (or not) shares nomenclature with the Honor 6 Plus.
Like most other phones of this day and age, the EMUI 3.0 powered Honor 6 Plus does gestures too. This includes off screen gestures, and other handy features such as double click volume down to take a photo, up for a quick voice memo. With NFC, TD/FDD-LTE Cat 6 and dual SIM features taking care of connectivity/telephony, Huawei have you covered more or less. As usual, the deal is pretty lucrative, starting at only 1,999 CNY or US$320 unlocked. Expect your choice of reseller to start shipping the Honor 6 Plus for somewhere around US$400 soon!

I am excited to know about its camera quality .
But I think it will take a long time to review this .
And I wonder what new feature Huawei will bring with new Ascend serise phones as they are also available out side . Honor serise are mostly for China , which I can’t buy .
In the U.S., all we can buy from Huawei off contract is the Ascend Mate 2. I almost bought one but even though I like big phones the Mate 2 is just too big.
Wish Huawei would offer more off contract phones for us in the states. Maybe they will in the future.
Still watching for release of Jaiyu S3 in late January. Hope the wait doesn’t prove a disappointemnt.

Hi, it is been a while that I am looking for a new phone but can’t decide what to buy?! I was wondering if you could suggest me some good phones, my budget is around 280€. I was planning to buy the Redmi 1S (only 1GB of RAM but a good value for the money) some users suggested me to buy a flagship like the MI4. I am looking for a phone with a screen not above 5 inch, 2GB of RAM, 16GB ROM plus micro SD and a strong battery (replaceable would be great). Jiayu S4 and Meizu K52 caught my attention but I don’t know when these devices will be on sale. The black MI4 seems to be great but Xiaomi didn’t fix the paint peeling issue over the metal body. They decide to release a silver wings model soon. The truth is that I am not a huge game player (I will only play Fifa or Injustice), I need a phone for its main usage, internet, emails…Your help will be much appreciated! Thanks in advance.
Probably Mi4’s price will be dropped a couple of month later because their next generation flagship will be on the way. Same did happen to Mi3 and Mi2s.
Price could be low as Mi3’s current level.

Thank you for your message, MI4 seems to be great but I hate Xiaomi’s strategy by releasing only 16G/64GB versions. If you go for the 16GB version, you can be quickly limited in terms of storage capacity. Moreover, you will need to be very restrictive regarding applications installation. Honestly, I can’t afford to pay 400€ for a device without proper 4G connectivity. I know that Xiaomi don’t care about Europe. However, the Meizu K52 aka Blue Charm will be 4,6 inch phone.
Right now, I’d say skip the Redmi. It’s starting to get outdated at this point. Your best choice would be the normal Huawei Honor 6 for now. It’s got everything you need, and it’s not too expensive either.

400€ for the 64GB MI4 version without shipping costs. Seriously, I think that I will have to wait a couple of months (at least 7 to 9 months) to see a price drop for the MI4. I think that I am going to order the Redmi 1S and wait for 64bits phones like Jiayu S4 and Meizu budget phone.
Never buy Redmi 1S !!! Been there, bad experience. Lack of ram, overheating issue, etc. It’s spec good on paper, but on real world, it’s a bad device. Redmi 1S is a very overrated device.
Even Huawei Honor 3C have better experience than 1S. It’s lighter, has 2GB RAM, no overheat issue, good battery life. It’s only losing in Camera quality compared to 1S.
I own a Redmi 1S and I’m loving it. It’s a solid device for its money. Camera is really good, and with 45.0.0 Multilang MIUIv5 firmware memory issues are resolved for light users.

Yep, unfortunately I’m not. I multi task (switching between apps) a lot. I played Asphalt a lot (which is impossible with Redmi 1S), I use my phone as DLNA server to stream my videos to my TV (again impossible, because it will always force closed after a few minutes). And then battery life is bad. It’s also quite heavy, my 5.0″ Honor 3C is slimmer and lighter, has bigger battery capacity and longer battery life. On paper, 1,6Ghz Snapdragon 400 should perform better than MTK6582, but on Redmi 1S, it’s not. It performed very poorly.

The only thing thats “worries” me is the 5.5″ display otherwise for the price this honor 6 sounds too good to be true, and its only sightly more expensive than the 5″ honor 6. Any advice you can give would be much appreciated.
If it’s too big for you, don’t buy it. You’ll turn out like my friend. Bought a Galaxy Mega, dropped and broke it a week later because it was too huge.
I’d say it would be better to wait for the next batch of smartphones before buying any.

Tried some themes from it’s store (free), nothing suited my taste. I tried to make my own themes by removing the icon mask and changed the icons with stock Android Lolipop icons, but when I applied the theme, it didn’t worked. Some said I need to repackage it with Huawei Theme Maker from Huawei Suite software, but when I installed the Suite, I didn’t find Theme Maker, and it didn’t even detected my device.

Their EMUI 3.0 is not that sucks. I use it, I just don’t like how they masks icons so it ended up in rounded rectangle form.

900/2100 are 3G bands not 2G. But the Unicom version of 6 Plus supports the following bands:

WCDMA 850 is band 5 so that is supported on this phone.
FDD 2600 (band 7) is not supported on that many Chinese phones.
Some ZTE phones fullfil your requirements (Z5 Max, Nubia Z7 series) but I wouldn’t recommend them because of weak software support.

Seems like a great phone, but why “6 plus”? Tired of that. Time to grow up.
Initial name was honor 6X. Name change to “plus” came at the end and as you assume its not meant to copy iphone but to actually challenge the iphone 6plus in the market. Huawei was never bothered with challenging the likes of one plus one, they are after IPhones continued dominance in China market.
It’s a challenge. It was supposed to be the Honor 6X, but they decided to poke fun at Apple instead.
Well rounded device, only problem is their GPU but for the price (in China) it’s fair I guess. Of course for international buyer, with the like of Jiayu S3 looming, there’s no real reason to buy this.

Jiayu is a basement company, so not really. But S3 support European LTE bands unlike this China Unicom-only phone….

Honor 6 Plus is using MicroSIM + NanoSIM for the dual-SIM version just like the Mate 7.
FAIL!
Its metallic sides, and cannot squeeze in 3 slots. I seen the Mate 7 guys on xda forums have developed a trick that allows them to use that nano slim slot to work using both card and SIM within it at the same time.
The non-plus Honor 6 Unicom version has 3 slots and both are micro-SIM so obviously it works. If it’s not possible now because of material change then they should change it back as is limits the actual functionality of the phone.
The only thing worse than one or two Nano-SIM slots on a phone is NanoSIM + MicroSIM…
Its relative. Many reviews of honor 6 had made a comment of how the plastic sides make the phone feel cheap. So now we have clearly a more premium feel device. Secondly the three slot version was only sold in China, so in a way makes no difference to those outside China.
I guess those who want a hipster accessory can buy the Honor 6 Plus then and I will buy another phone that actually is useful.

And that’s a problem how exactly?
That you can’t swap them (maybe you can swap them in software but not on the Ascend P7 for example). And that Nano-SIM is only used by a handful of brands.
Without a fingerprint sensor, it’s second tier in 2015.
The dual lens camera sounds rather interesting, but Huawei cameras have not generally been on par with the more expensive brands, so I’d wait and see.
I’m not sure if I should buy the honor or the mx4 pro. Does anyone know about the sound chip of the honor? Because i really like that feature of the mx4, but there I’m missing the dual sim
