During the launch of the Xiaomi Mi Note, Xiaomi also introduced a new version of itβs popular Android set top box. To everyones surprise the new Mi Box, was a super tiny device measuring only slightly more than a standard main USB charger, but despite itβs size it boasts all the usual MiBox Smart TV features.
As with most of Xiaomiβs products the Mi Box Mini has only been officially launched in China, but demand for the quad-core box is high throughout Europe and online resellers have been quick to act.

Honorbuy.com (previously Xiaomishop.com) are offering the Xiaomi Mi Box mini for just $49.99. Also all Mi Box versions bought through the store come with Google services, Playstore and framework installed as standard giving you access to all your favourite Google applications.
Specifications for the Mi Box Mini include a 1.3Ghz quad-core processor, Dolby DTS sound, dual band WIFI, Bluetooth and the device ships with a remote control plus HDMI cable.

I bought one last month: nice device, good design, good manufacturing… but a bit unusable/useless in Europe:
– i had to search Google and YouTube just to find a way to change language to French (believe me, I can’t read Chinese, so it was a pain in the ***)
– Google’s Apps and services are not easy to install.
Is it the vendor’s fault or Xiaomi’s? dunno, but it wasn’t a great moment of satisfaction: I bought better/easier TV dongles before!
PS: anyone with a clear/complete method for rooting/installing/GApps is welcome π
Did you update it? I have a regular Mi Box and one of the newer updates brings an English UI.
Nope, not so far. If you can point me a related link full of updates/videos/tutorails, you’ll make my day π

One more thing since you are using one: does MiBox need to be ‘visible’ near TV? In my living room I dont have visible power socket near TV, although I have some under TV… I mean this if it can be operated when it is hidden somewhere with no direct line of sight.
Well, i would say ‘not necessary’ because the remote seems to be Bluetooth or similar… but never tried π Mine is not plugged on the wall, but on an extension cord…

Google play services not working at this stage, honorbuy.com also confirmed it, so if you want to buy – have this in mind!!!

But just out of curiosity. Why would you need Google Play? You can install all the apps you want by hand? I know it’s a little more work but after you have all the apps you want the chances are quite high you might not even use the Play Store that much any more.
