Xiaomi’s Mi 4 is a mighty fine phone with a powerful processor (in the Snapdragon 801) and other specifications, including 3GB of RAM and an impressive 13 mega-pixel camera.
The phone was Xiaomi‘s flagship up until the company decided to launch the Mi Note, and even then, the device was quite affordable after being launched for 1,999 CNY (US$325) in July last year. If you thought that was too much to pay for a 3GB RAM phone with the Snapdragon 801 SoC, Xiaomi have a solution for you in the works, in the form of the Xiaomi E4.
The E4 just got certified by TENAA, aka the FCC of China. The device comes with 2GB of RAM. In China, the phone will be sold in three network variants, each having support for the China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom networks respectively.
Gizchina News of the week
Pricing wise, the Xiaomi E4 should be priced well under the US$300 mark in China, but a confirmation on that is due at the time of writing the article.
How much would you be willing to pay for a Xiaomi Mi 4 with 2GB RAM, aka the Xiaomi E4? Let us know in the comments section below. Meanwhile, also check out our review of the Xiaomi Mi 4.
260$
They sold the 2GB device before on Singles Day at 1799CNY so that would be the likely price even if the old Xiaomi would have sold it cheaper now.
Xiaomi is too stubborn to dropping OLD Mi4’s prices.
As long as people keep rushing for Mi4 with that prices, they will not.
They can’t justify 1999CNY for Mi4 if they sell it 2GB version lower than 1799CNY price tag.
They can’t justify 2199CNY price tag for Mi Note if they discounted Mi4’s price.
It’s not called being stubborn its called running a business….
Exactly. They are counting on blind fanboys’ loyalty.
You know now you are advocating a huge company’s best interests not customers’.
So you are saying customers don’t want a near flagship phone for a cheaper price? Keep in mind you don’t represent every customer in the world…
So you are.
I bought the mi4 4g fdd lte in december from ibuygou for about 320 euros and i thibk it is very cheap for this beast phone
Around $ 129.99, to a maximum of $149.99 if overpriced, no more. I think we should have a Snapdragon 801 + 3GB Ram + FHD phone under $99 by the end of the year.
lol
That’s really just wishful thinking. It’s probably not going to happen.
To do that they would have to sell the Redmi 2 and Redmi Note for about $30 each lol.
They don’t even sell the MK6577 Samsung S4 clones at that price
Pandawill sells has a few dual-core phones from Tengda that are like $ 50-60
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperbole
Right over his head lol
250€ if MTK6752 and 5″ FHD
like
I would say pricing in China will begin around $249, $299 internationally. Even with “only” 2GB RAM, it is still better than many flagships out there.
149 euros..
Mini version shenzen style? This is disgusting, isn’t it?
For the users who thinks 250 is good for a mid range,LG floded the market in Spain with G3’s and you can find them as low as 300€ sealed or 250 used, not to be a cheapskate but i can take sh1t for proper value, wont take sh1t for branding sakes
Except this isn’t a mid-range phone, it is an older flagship with slightly less RAM but still with a very good SoC, excellent camera, excellent software and very good build quality.
What is it then?It apeals to who?To people who wants the mi4 but they are short 50 bucks and dosen’t need the extra ram?
It’s a scam if you ask me,but it only works at the very established brands(A5,A3,the minis) where grannys and redknecks want the logo no matter what
It’ll probably appeal to some budget conscious buyers who need to save as much money as possible, like students. They want good things, but they really can’t afford things outside of their budget, so this type of thing is a godsend for them. Every cent is useful to them.
You know what a scam is right? It’s a
dishonest way to make money by deceiving people. Like selling something that doesn’t exist or lying about a product. This is neither of those.
P.S – A G3 at £300 still costs around $440. It’s nowhere close to being as cheap as the E4, Mi4 or even Mi Note.
Depends where you are. 16gb G3’s are going for $330 usd in Hong Kong (add $30 for 32gb), actually less than a Mi Note. Fact is most people on this site don’t have access to buy a Mi Note direct @ $370 and would need to buy through a reseller so add a good $100. It’s funny because the reseller’s margins are probably higher than Xiaomi’s. You’d have to be a total sucker to buy from them.
Quite true. Still, for this guy’s case, the G3 is still more expensive than the Mi4.
Who said that, I can get a sealed unlocked G3 on Spanish forum easily for 300€,but if I’m in a hurry i go here http://www.dvdandorra.com/product_info.php?products_id=3759
Oh. Sorry, I thought the € was a £. In that case, good for you.
Even 300 euro will still cost more than the E4.
I have seen 16GB Mi4’s selling for as low as $320 on some resellers. The Mi Note costs so much right now because it is brand new. The G3 is so cheap right now because it’s been out since last June.
It appeals to people who want a very good phone for a little less money. Not everyone needs or wants that much RAM. I still use a Nexus 7 with 1GB of RAM and it runs 99% of what I need to with no problems. How is it a scam? Do you even now what a scam it is? A scam would be if they no longer sold the 3GB model and then started selling this for more money.
There are other flagships from last year which only offered 2GB of RAM like the Mx4 and Galaxy S5, Iphone still only used 1GB of RAM. The latter two phone cost over twice as much as this will.
50-60 bucks over 300$ is almost 20%.
For people leaning towards Chinese phones to save money over Korean ones is a big deal.
But this is not the point, unfortunately their SD615 phones can’t compete with the new MT6752 Phones.
The mediatek ones perform better and they are cheaper.
This one is a premium build phone and at a lower price it might steal few customers from MT6752 phone manufacturers.
That’s IMO why they came out with this phone, nothing new, just marketing.
What im saying is that xiaomi is not at the level where they can cash in on “minis”,yet
Agreed, but they have to start somewhere. They have managed to sell billions of low and mid-range devices in the past years due to their aggressive pricing. This year is going to be tough, Mediatek (dropped from Xiaomi) came out with their best SoCs to date while Qualcomm didn’t make their magic with SD410 and SD615. I think Xiaomi is trying to patch and save the savable.
This strategy totally makes sense to me, we’ll see what’s gonna happen.
Another reading key might be that regular MI4 didn’t sell like they were hoping for… We can debate about it forever. Having more choices is going to benefit customers for sure.
So welcome E4
Xiaomi is the 3rd biggest smartphone manufacturer in the world. If they are not on the level to sell “mini’s”, no one is. And just think they are #3 without having any officially presence in North America or Europe. In China and India people will buy just about anything with Xiaomi’s name on it. That is why they are known as the Apple of the East. In the US Apple does this on a yearly basis, changes one spec, gives the phone a new letter and charges the same price and millions buy it.
There is definetly a fanboy flava in the air so i wont argue anymore, have fun.

To be honest, the snapdragon 801 is not that impressive anymore, i would paid about $210-220 dollars for it, aka the price of a premium build MT6752 phone.
Why not just get an MTK6752 phone?
That’s the point, people would rather get a $130-$220 MT6752 phone than a $300 dollars Snapdragon 801 when the performance is virtually the same.
The MT6752 is just too fucking good for the price of the phones that are being powered be it.
I bought the mi4 4g fdd lte in december from ibuygou for about 320 euros and i thibk it is very cheap for this beast phone

So it’s exactly the same as the Mi4 just with 2gb of ram? I don’t see the business-side strategy behind this. It probably would’ve been better to just to cut the price of the Mi4 instead.
“Hey look at my new E4.”
– “E4? what’s that?”
“It’s a Mi4 but with only 2gb of ram.”
– “oh. (disappointed)”
That’s how 99% of E4 owners are going to describe their new phone to friends and colleagues.
You feel the need to describe your phone to others? Buy an iPhone?
Hey! look at my new iPhone!
-oh
nobody cares what phone you buy !!!! these are chinese phones , they are not for bragging rights , you’re probably on the wrong site , if you care about that.
the only bragging rights come when you save money compared to a overpriced korean phone and buy your girlfriend a gift with the savings , good thing to do IMO, don’t waste on korean stuff.
Only you care about what other people think about your phone. Most of your comments have something to do with what others will think. Most sane people will say “this is the E4 it is an amazing phone I got for under $300”.

149 euros..
It is a very good move by Xiaomi, where they end up bringing, Flagship like performance at lower cost.
As per me, it is the right replacement for MI3 so the price should be about CNY 1399.
When Mi4 was launched owing to the image of Xiaomi, it was expected the prices to be say lower than CNY 1599, but when the 16 GB model was priced at CNY 1999 customers felt betrayed but at the same time they know that Xiaomi will give value for money, so there was divided response and lower sale.
I think E4 should be priced at CNY 1399 and MI4 3GB at CNY 1999 and 64 GB model at CNY 2399
Redmi is priced at CNY 699

LOL, Show me one mobile which as Snapdragon with 2 GB under 10,000 price tag.

SD610.
Here in Poland You can have LG G2 and Galaxy S4 9506 for less than 300€, So I’m willing to pay not more than 220-250€ for Xiaomi E4 🙂 Anyway in 6 month time, after Mi5 premiere we can axpect at least 100€ price drop 🙂 So no need to rush.
Isn’t the Galaxy S4 a SD600 device? The LG G2 I can understand, but the Galaxy S4 isn’t even close to the other two.
Same here in Italy. G2 is about 270€, so Mi4 isn’t so appealing for us in terms of price. I’ll wait for Mi4 price to drop since it’s a fantastic device and, the most important thing, it’s only 5″. I can’t find any good alternative to LG G2 which is in the <300€ range… :/
It’s clearly a marketing strategy to try to save few mid-range customers that are going to migrate to those new MK6752 phones. The SD615 is not appealing at all.
I know that due to logistic issues this would never happen but I find interesting if a company would offer a deep customization of their phones like:
Don’t need dual Sim? Save 10$
Add extra ram? Add 30$
Don’t need big battery? Save 20$
And so on…

I find very funny reading comments of people saying that Xiaomi is “stubborn” because they don’t drop the price of MI4.
Xiaomi is a business with marketing experts. It’s not a charity.
Then you read :
“LG dropped their price in South Africa..”
What does that even mean?
Price changes have several variables.
Getting rid of old stock is one, new model is coming out so you might want to avoid collusion is another one and I can go on…
Xiaomi doesn’t even make their phones, they want to spread Miui as much as they can so they can sell their services.
Some of these people don’t realize business have to make money to succeed. It is quite comical. It’s even funnier when they bring up a phone from a different company as having a price drop without giving any explanation or conjecture as to why they dropped the price. LG is about to unveil the G4 they had to drop the price, especially given the original retail price was over $600. No one is going to pay $600 for last year flagship.
I find funny certain people’s Xiaomi fanboyism.
Their strategy rely on low prices and word of mouth. They didn’t spend any money to advertising campaings to keeping prices low. When people recognize great value for price spread to word.
It doesn’t have that great value anymore. So lets spread that word too.
Mi4 was hardly and upgrade to Mi3 at the launch. Now it’s impossible to consider it as high end.
Now they are trying to rise prices with “Pro” bullshit. Don’t even dare to try playing cost card.
They created fanbase with low prices and they are ditching it now.
How are they ditching it? The Mi Note costs $50 more than the Mi4 did at launch. For that $50 you get a bigger display and Gorilla Glass front and back.
Firstly, Mi4 doesn’t deserve that price anymore.
What’s the cost of Gorilla Glass? $3. Let’s say twice as expensive for back glass.
Mi4 was stainless steel. What about Mi Note? I didn’t see it anywhere?
Why “Pro” beginning from 64GB?
You don’t think it’s deserve that price, that is your opinion. It continues to sell in the millions though so apparently many still think it is worth it.
Even at your pricing of $9 a phone for Gorilla Glass, Xiaomi is expected to sell 10 million+ Mi Notes. You do that math on that one.
“Mi4 was stainless steel”. The Mi Note has the same stainless steel frame, the difference between the two is the Mi4 has a plastic back cover, the Mi Note has a Gorilla Glass back cover.
Eventually they will reach some people who thinks Xiaomi flagships deserve $650+ prices like Samsung or Apple. So they will sell their products with that price.
That’s the ditching I’m talking about.
Are you still believing they are selling those near cost?
How are they not? The Mi4 debuted for 1999 yaun, the Mi note debuted for 2199 yaun. For the extra money you get a .7 inch bigger display, a thinner body and Gorilla Glass back instead of plastic. You are making it seem like they are selling the Mi Note for 4000 yaun.
Their real flagships is Mi Note Pro. It’s price is 3299CNY.
But I have to admit it has 64GB storage. So if ever they create an -lets say- 16GB version, price would likely 2799CNY considering their pricing scheme.
Mi Note is came with old hardware.
Meizu, one of the biggest Chinese competitor of Xiaomi, sells its MX4 Pro 64Gb for 3099CNY (price in China) and all I have heard is that is a great deal.
It has a 2013 hardware.
I’m not eveneven going to mention the Korean competitors.
How much should Xiaomi price their Note Pro?
I’d like having it for free too, but it’s not going to happen.
Foolish pricing for Meizu. I heard 16GB MX4 Pro’s price reduced to 2099CNY (or 2199CNY I’m not sure it’s price reduced 300 yuan) now. I would choose MX4 over to MX4 Pro anyway.
I could be wrong, but I have an impression Meizu was pricey and they join the price competition recently.
Mi Note has 2013 hardware too. SD801 just a hair better than SD800. Remember it’s name would have SD800 too.
Again, we have different opinions, so I’m not going to argue over the difference of SD800 and SD801 which might look the same but they are not.
I’m not going to change your mind as you won’t change mine.
And I’m saying it with all due respect, in not trying to say I’m right and you are wrong here. We have different point of view. That’s it .
Enjoy the rest of your day as I’m going to enjoy mine.
“I could be wrong, but I have an impression Meizu was pricey and they join the price competition recently.”
You are wrong. What do you think these phones should be sold at?
“Prices start at 2499 Yuan for the 16GB version with no NFC, 2699 Yuan for the 32GB, and top out at 3099 Yuan for the 64GB model (the 128GB version will be 3999 Yuan).”
https://www.gizchina.com/2013/09/27/meizu-mx3-sale-today/
“The base model of the Xiaomi Mi3 with 16GB of memory will go on sale for 1999 Yuan ($320) while the top of the range model with 64GB is 2499 Yuan ($408).”
https://www.gizchina.com/2013/09/05/xiaomi-mi3-specifications/
I’ve read through all your comments, and it’s clear that you dislike Xiaomi for no valid reason.
You say that Xiaomi is increasing prices even though the only device that’s beyond their normal pricing is the Mi Note. The Redmi 2 for example is pretty much the same price as it’s predecessor.
Then you say they don’t do advertising, which is also not true. In supported countries like Malaysia and Singapore, they do advertise their phones. Carriers also do a bunch of advertising for them, and they’re quite active in online advertising.
You also talk about Xiaomi as if they’re holding charities. Their top of the line device, the Mi Note Pro, may be priced higher than their older devices, but it still costs less than a 64GB iPhone or Galaxy Note 4. The Mi Note Pro is still a good deal for the price, especially when the competition is more expensive.
It just seems to me like you really have no reason to dislike Xiaomi.
You are quite wrong. I criticize Xiaomi, because I liked them. For example I wouldn’t gave a shit what Oppo doing. You get it?
I argued the guy about Redmi 2 before. I said it isn’t good enough. Hardly an upgrade to Redmi 1s. And they couldn’t sell it 799CNY which is first Redmi’s and Redmi 1s’s launch prices. That was my opinion.
It came with 699CNY price tag. And in a short time they feel the need pushing an enchanted version.
Redmi Note is too old against it’s competitors also.
These are the facts. Not because I didn’t like them. I like them because they have changed the market. Offered phones with great value for price. I don’t want to see them transforming to another Samsung etc.
As I said before if what are you talking about advertisement is true, then my mistake is trusting Xiaomi managers’ words. If you have a problem about that, talk to them.
There is no room for maybe, Mi Note Pro is more expensive comparing to Mi3 or Mi4. Also another fact is it’s cheaper than 6 Plus or Note 4. I didn’t write anywhere ever it isn’t cheaper than 6 Plus or Note 4 alike.
I’m merely observing their prices are rising.
I understand your point.
Correct me if I’m wrong please.
Your upset comes from the price of the Note pro that in your opinion should have followed the price of MI3 and MI4 which was 1999CNY.
If this is the point then let me explain you a thing: the Note Pro is another product that doesn’t relate to MI2,MI3,MI4.
It’s a brand new series that targets different customers. This one will compete with IPhone 6 plus or Samsung Note 4.
They will probably come out with a MI5 later on which will continue the MI series with up to date hardware. They will probably make a 16GB version to keep with the cost and they might sell it for 1999CNY.
They are trying to make a product for different categories.
Of course, I have no news about it, that’s just my opinion, but it’s clear that Note Pro is a different phone and that’s why it has a different name and price.
Speaking of E4,SD801 is still actual, it’s not old at all and lowering the ram can make them sell it for less and hopefully compete with premium MK6752 phones that are the real deal for the price.
Let me explain you again beforehand I’m not a Xiaomi hater, quite contrary I’m considering myself as a fan.
IMO we can’t afford to lose them. I’m upset because of I’m observing they are going to rise their prices step by step. That’s my opinion. If that’s the case we fans have to say them stop, not encouraging them.
I agree with you Note (not just Pro) is a phablet and belongs to a different category.
If Mi5 came with in the short term with real high-end specs and it’s price beginnig from 1999CNY -or even 2199CNY like Mi Note- I will apologize all of you and Xiaomi. Do you really believe that?
Although Mi Note is different than Mi4, also they are close enough to comparing. Both of them has SD801, 3GB LPDDR3 RAM, 16GB storage, FHD display, metal body. So their prices are close. Mi Note is a bit more expensive but we can ignore it.
Let me ask you a question. Considering Mi Note Pro’s price being 3299CNY, what would a hypothetical 16GB Note Pro’s price to your guess?
There is 500CNY difference between 16GB and 64GB Mi4. Same as 16GB and 64GB Mi Note.
So if they decide ever pushing a Mi Note Pro with 16GB storage likely price would be 2799CNY.
And considering price gap between 16GB Mi Note and 16GB Mi4, if they release a Mi5 with similar specs to Note Pro price likely would around 2599CNY. Of course that’s just a speculation but a strong probability IMO.
I’m really getting tired of that debate.
Sorry I didn’t mean bothering you.
We both don’t know what’s gonna happen and we can just guess it.
I just thought that a MI5 with SD810 3 GB ram, no dual Sim, 16gb, 5inch, and maybe released on Q4 or Q1 of next year could come out for 1999CNY. But again, we don’t know what’s going on so I can only talk about what we know, and speaking with your numbers…500CNY for 64Gb, then add an extra DDR4 GB of ram, then add dual Sim, then add a bigger screen, then add OIS, then add gorilla glass back and from (mi4 has no gorilla glass at all) then you realize that the the price of note might make sense.
Anyway, being a proud owner of a Xiaomi phone I hope add you that they will keep phones as low as they could, otherwise I’ll just go with one of other Chinese manufacturer. Peace
You didn’t bother me. I was generally speaking. I really hope you are right. We will see what’s going to happen.
As well I know Mi4 has Corning Concore Glass. I did say Corning Glass, not Corning Gorilla Glass.
Mi Note has OIS and back glass too.
“Mi Note has OIS and back glass too.”
Which is why its costs $50 more, now do you understand?
Obviously you have no idea what are you talking about. You had a ridicoulus notion Mi phones selling at costs. I’m not saying their profit margins isn’t tighter comparing regular brands. Anyway where dou you get that $50 number? Make it up?
BOM costs are gradually reducing in time, so a year later manufacturers can provide better specs at same price.
Adding one or other thing almost a year later won’t make so much difference. This is why they could able to release Mi4 same price with Mi3 less than a year later like any other brand. Same as Mi3 and Mi2s.
BTW I was talking about Mi Note and Mi Note Pro’s difference smartass. You are like talking about understanding but obviously you didn’t understand that.
It’s called simple math.
Mi4 price – 1999 yaun = $320
Mi note Price – 2299 yaun = $370
$370-$320 = $50. I’ll stand by while you check the math.
You were talking about Mi Note vs Mi Pro yet you keep mentioning the Mi4….
You got me. I misremembered it’s price as 2199CNY.
What’s your excuse about bringing Mi4 and Mi Note’s prices to Note vs Note Pro comparing?
I don’t follow what you mean. If your wondering why the Note Pro is significantly more money, it’s because of the specs it is using. A 2K display over 1080, 4GB of RAM over 3GB, and most importantly the Snapdragon 810, which is supposedly the most powerful chip ever made but also one of the most expensive. Which is one of the reasons (along with overheating issues) Samsung is using their own Exnyos chip in the S6.
The original Redmi phone sold for 799, the newest one sells for 699. When they updated the price to 799 for the Redmi 2 they also added an extra 1GB of RAM. $130 for a phone with a 2GB of RAM, a 64 bit SOC, 720p display and a stable working ROM isn’t exactly them robbing you. For the Redmi 2 the price stayed exactly the same from the original Redmi which came out in 2013.
When the Mi2 came out it cost 1999 yaun for the 16GB version. When Mi3 came out it cost 1999 yaun for the 16GB version. When Mi4 came it cost 1999 yaun for the 16GB version. Where is the rising prices you are seeing? I see prices remaining exactly the same. The Mi Note has a higher price but it is a completely different model from anything they have sold before. There is nothing we can compare it to. When they came out with the Mi Tab there was nothing to compare that to.
LOL. You were the guy arguing with me about Redmi 2’s price, right? And I said you, they couldn’t sale it with 799CNY price. They have to upgrade it for that price tag. I was right.
In the reality there isn’t considerable performance difference between 1.6GHz SD400 and 1.2GHz SD410. 64-bit isn’t magic. Because of that people favors MT6732 over SD410.
I didn’t say it’s robbing. I said it’s hardly an upgrade over Redmi 1s and they couldn’t sell it Redmi’s price traditional price tag. Latter is a proven fact.
Also you are keeping ignoring how Redmi 1s owners complains about 1GB RAM isn’t sufficient enough for fluid user experience with MIUI.
When was I arguing about the Redmi 2’s price?? They did upgrade it to sell it at 799, the original price was 699.
People may prefer 6732 but isn’t offered on this phone so it is pointless to even mention it. I prefer the camera used in the Xshot over any other camera but that has nothing to do with the current argument.
They have been selling it in record numbers at Redmi 1s price tag. They could have kept it at that, never updated it and continued to sell it. There was a great demand for a 2GB model. Xiaomi listened to its fans (like they are doing with the E4) and offered an updated model for the same low price. You still seem to not realize the price of the 2GB Redmi 2 is the same price as the original Red Rice, 799. You make it seem like they raised the price to 1000 for the Redmi 2.
I dont really know what other people complain about. I use MIUI on a Nexus 7 with 1GB of RAM and never have any problems.
I checked out and saw our argue was over about Redmi 1s’ price. And I talked with another guy about Redmi 2’s price.
Sorry for my confusion.
Redmi 2 isn’t at same price with Redmi or Redmi 1s. That’s enchanted version of it.
Check for Redmi 1s’ memory management issues.
Redmi 2 (enhanced) is 799 yaun, the original Redmi when it launched was 799 yaun….
https://www.gizchina.com/2013/07/31/xiaomi-red-rice-launches-at-just-130-cheapest-mt6589t-phone/
So what? I’m saying same thing.
Funny that I completely agree with @guaire:disqus. I don’t know who you are, but I too, feel that Xiaomi is loosing their touch with the pricing.
The moment we’re starting to have to rationally think and try to understand their pricing, Xiaomi lost its appeal completely. We are customers, we shouldn’t be bothered by all those things. Our concern is suppose to be getting the best thing within our budget, or even lesser. And Xiaomi was once a miraculous company that could provide that. But not anymore.
It’s as simple as that.
Samsung was once on this path too in their journey of becoming a better alternative to Apple, and look at them now. They couldn’t handle the immensity of their successful sales from all over the world, that they abandoned the path and started to increase their prices to get even more revenue. They have become the trend setter for the highest price android devices.
So it’s suppose to be understandable if some people (including me) pessimistically thought that Xiaomi would keep their company true to the path they started this business with.
Again, this is a point of view of an early customer of Xiaomi, which was in his time, had to go through a lot of trouble just to get his hands on a single Xiaomi device. Not an android slash manufacturing slash company-ceo expert.
If you were an early adopter of Xiaomi you would have paid the same exact price for the Mi2 as you would for the Mi4. At the end of the day though if you no longer think its a good value, there are hundreds of other options on the market.
Without being a xiaomi fanboy I disagree with all of your statements.
The company that lowered the bar of the price down is Xiaomi, other companies had to follow. Xiaomi that doesn’t advertise is another BS. They do it in the countries where they are officially in business.
MI4 was hardly an upgrade of MI3 is partially true, but only because it was a big innovation when they came out with the MI3. Speaking of hardware the MI4 was in line with other companies.
Since the SD805 didn’t have success they opted for a 801, 3gb ram, 3000mha battery etc…I don’t think other companies came out with a better hardware.
They are not trying to raise any price, when you affirm that please bring up another element to compare.
I don’t think new SD810 devices are cheaper than MI note PRO.
Look, if don’t advertising is a bullshit, Xiaomi managers like Hugo Barra gave us that notion. So if that’a bullshit it isn’t mine. They are saying that, but you can’t believe it.
Despite your word seems you are agreeing with me on second thing about Mi4.
I wouldn’t any comment over SD805. Somehow at the time it was stuck in Korea special editions of S5 and G3 until Nexus 6.
As well I know that’s a fact Xiaomi lowered prices and lots of competitors have to mimic it. Kudos for Xiaomi. I’m criticized Xiaomi, because I like them, didn’t wan’t to see their changing.
Now they are trying to rise that same bar, and you are denying it cause you are blind.
You have yet to mention how they are raising the bar. How did they escape from their low cost strategy? The only blind one here is you. Those phones you mentioned with the 805 all cost over $600 twice as much as the phones were are discussing here. If Xiaomi wanted to abandon their low cost strategy they could sell it for those same prices and they could still sell millions.
They can’t get over that transition in one night. They are going there step by step. Despite your claim if they are priced their goods like any other brand, they would sell 60 million units only in their dreams.
So it is all your opinion that they are going to raise their prices, it is based on no facts whatsoever. Got it.
Xiaomi products already sell on the second hand market for 1.5-2x their normal asking price. Millions of fans in India are willing to pay that for Xiaomi products, just like they pay it for Apple products. In China and India Xiaomi has the name recognition to charge that much if they wanted to.
It’s right front of your eyes, but because of being a fanboy you can’t see it. I did your answer below.
If they are selling millions that way why they are keeping flash sells?
The only thing I can see is actual prices. Mi4 sold for 1999, Mi Note is selling for 2199. I can see that the manufacturing costs for a 5.7 inch phone with Gorilla Glass front and back is more than a 5 inch phone with a plastic back. You apparently think all phone costs the same to make. In your mind a 200 yaun difference equates to them abandoning their philosophy. Interesting enough the Redmi 2 costs cheaper today than original Redmi did. Certainly the moves from a company trying to drastically raise pries.
Flash sales are a marketing strategy, ties into their advertising. It drive demand up and makes their product seem more exclusive. I don’t agree with flash sales just like I don’t agree with OPO invite system but it has worked for both of those companies.
Really? You are trying again Gorilla Glass BS? Yo know Mi4 has Corning Glass too.
I’m not thinking all phones cost same but I remember you were believing Mi4 selling near cost.
You didn’t explain adequately if they could be able to sell millions of units via resellers why they are keeping flash sales. They should be loss millions.
Their real flagship Mi Note Pro, and it’s far more expensive than Mi3 and Mi4. And don’t try to justify it with 64GB storage.
Mi4 has Gorilla Glass on the front, Mi Note has it on front and back. Gorilla Glass is more expensive than plastic, which is used on the back of the Mi4. It requires more material (steel, aluminum, plastic, glass etc) to make a 5.7 inch phone than it does a 5 inch phone. Those are all added costs to Xiaomi.
The Mi Note Pro has a 2k screen, 4GB of RAM and a brand new 64 bit SOC (Snapdragon 810). Of course it is more expensive. You do realize Xiaomi is a business and not a charity right? You do know business need to turn a profit to succeed?
You said “Gorilla Glass front and back.” like Mi4 doesn’t have protecting glass.
Mi3 and Mi4 has also state of art tech at the launch date. So don’t try to give that BS again and again.
You can’t explain 3299CNY price with cost.
There is a huge price difference with their older flagships’ prices. You don’t get it. Mi Note Pro is real flagship not Mi Note.
Obviously you don’t realize you are a consumer. You are advocating their best interest not yours.
Of course they have every right to determined their prices. After all they are a company. They can get greedy. It’s a free world.
But you are in denial to their shifting prices.
Do you know what front and back means? It means it has Gorilla Glass on BOTH the front and back. The Redmi Note has it, the Mi4 does not it is front only. Mi3 and Mi4 came out during different generations with different price points and different components there is no comparison to make. It’s like asking why does a Ford Mustang cost $30,000 today when it cost $3,000 in 1970.
I am a consumer and they deliver an amazing product for a low price. I am a consumer in two countries Thailand and the US. In the US the closest thing to the value of the Mi4 is the Moto X which sells for about $625 unlocked. In Thailand the cheapest phones are about $500, and thats mid range options.
I said you GG’s cost is about $3 and maybe twice as for back. And you calculated $9 extra cost for Mi Note.
I said you Mi4 has Corning Glass too. So your calculation was wrong.
If you like good value for prices you have to defend that notion. You have to recognize whan things began to change. You are just focusing on current time and ignoring the changing things. Yes, as I said countless times it still cheaper than regular brands. That’s never my point.
Whether my calculation was wrong or not you still can’t admit that is an added cost? You even said it yourself “twice as much for the back”.
No one really knows what your point is. You claim they are raising prices drastically but offer zero proof other than your own opinion. It seems common sense is lost on you.
For clarifying I said let’s say twice as expensive. I don’t know curved glass’ price comparing to flat glass either way.
I offer you explanation but you are ignored them. And you are trying to make it personal.
Not making it personal at all you really do seem to have a problem grasping the concept that the Note uses different components which is an added cost to Xiaomi.
No you are picky. I said, Mi Note isn’t a 2015 high end device. Real one is Mi Note Pro and price is undeniably higher with a clear margin.
Check out Iphone 6 and 6 Plus’s costs. Cost difference is just $15.
http://press.ihs.com/sites/ihs.newshq.businesswire.com/files/Main_Cost_Table.jpg
You do realize that these are two completely different companies? This has zero to do with Xiaomi. Apple and Samsung both have lower costs than most smartphones because they use a lot of their own components (soc, camera, memory etc).
What makes the Iphone 6 a high end phone over the Mi Note?
Do you realize it’s about how much make cost difference a phablet from regular sized phone?
Larger phones won’t cause much higher cost as you were imagined.
You are repeatedly argued over Mi Note is a phablet and you thought it’s make more difference.
Again the costs Apple has have nothing to do with the costs of any other manufacturer. Are you really going to say there isn’t an added cost between making a 5.7 inch phone and a 5 inch phone? You do realize it requires more material to make that bigger frame? That is like saying it costs the same to build a 2 bedroom house as it does a 4 bedroom house. The costs may not seem like much on paper but multiple that by the millions of phones Xiaomi sells and it adds up quickly.
They are still selling their MI4 for 1999 CNY, they didn’t drop the price of it, the reason? We don’t have enough elements to say why, my guess is good as yours. That said, if they still sell the MI4 for 1999CNY, how much the NOTE should be priced at? Less then 2199 CNY? Don’t you think this would effect the sale of their MI4?
Look, I’m not even mentioning if it worth or not, it’s all about pricing here. The competition in China is rough, if they raise the price they will be wiped out in an heartbeat
I like the Xiaomi and always talked about them good in local sites.
Mi Note Pro should have real Mi Note, IMO. Should have beginning from 1999CNY for 16 or better 32GB.
They could cut 2K display for reducing cost. Actually it would be better without it, IMO. Glass back could have optional.
Those are marketing choices, there’s actually a science behind it.
To figure out what’s going to sell better. Your needs are different from mine and different from Balcobomber etc.I, for example, like 5″ phones so I won’t buy their next flagship for that reason.
I can tell you have spent zero time in India, China, Malaysia, Singapore or any other official Xiaomi country if you think they don’t do any advertising.
I can tell you don’t know what Hugo Barra and Lei Jun talking about that.
I work in all of those countries and I see firsthand Xiaomi advertising…….
So, they are liars.
No they don’t do the traiditonal advertising that other companies do. They don’t spend hundreds of millions of dollars on tv and media campaigns like Apple or Samsung. They advertise in their own unique ways. But they still have advertising.
LOL. So you tried to be smartass. What I was meaning about advertising?
Not being a smartass at all. I have no clue what you meant but they do advertise.
No you tried exactly that.
They are repeatedly told they don’t spend money to advertisement campaigns so phones’ cost stay low. You should know.
And the phone continue to stay low, what is your point…..?
My point was clear. You twisted it.
You have no point other than you hate paying full price for phones. We all do but compared to phones for Samsung, LG, HTC or Iphone these phones are dirt cheap.
Again, my point was clear. I explained how Xiaomi could keep their prices low according to their managers’. You just tried to be smartass. And you eventually admitted it my meaning was not wrong.
Again what you seem to realize is their prices still are low….
I didn’t say ever they are not low. I’m saying they used to be lower.
But they weren’t lower. The Mi2 cost exactly the same as the Mi4 did when it launched. The Redmi 2 (updated version) cost exactly the same as the Redmi when it launched. That is the part you don’t seem to understand.
The Note is a completely new line there is no past product to compare it to.
Mi2s launched April 2013, it’s price dropped 5 months later at September 2013.
Mi3 launched December 2013, it’s price dropped 5 months later at April 2014.
Same seems valid for Mi2. I couldn’t find exact discount time. It released November 2012. Considering Mi2s launch date and their launch prices same should be true.
You see now the pattern?
8 months from Mi4’s launch they didn’t lower price and probably they will not many months because if they lowered Mi4’s price now, will be a pressure for Mi Note.
Price tag is same, but not discounted prices they show us a different pattern.
This goes against your entire argument. Your entire argument has been they have raised prices of their devices. They have not. The starting prices have not changed.
They dropped the price of the Mi2 in September because that was the same month they announced the Mi3. Xiaomi held a press conference to announce the Mi3, right after that they said they will cut the price of the Mi2. The Mi3’s price was reduced in April of 2014. You see now the pattern? They reduce a phone around the same time a new one comes out. When the Mi5 is announced the Mi4 will see a price reduction.
Mi4 is half a generation of old. Instead of a launching it’s successor they launched Mi Note and created a confusion.
They did break their pattern and instead to discounting it’s price they released a phablet and covered their shifting strategy.
Just give me an answer do you believe Mi5 will came with 1999CNY -or close- price tag with ACTUAL high end specs in short term?
I believe Mi5 will be 1999 yaun with ACTUAL high end specs.
The Mi Note is a completely separate product line for Xiaomi. Just like Samsung has the Galaxy S line and the Note line. Both of those are offered with high specs for around the same price.
Honestly I wish you will be right about that. I don’t believe.
Time will tell.
nothing they don’t have real 4g lte for the USA
Then I think you are in the wrong place since you won’t be able to find any Chinese phone that use the same LTE bands used in the US
Xiaomi doesn;t have an offcial presence in North America so there is no reason for them to include LTE bands for the USA. Sales in North America for them don’t justify the cost of adding support for those countries. Give it 3-5 years and all that will change. Xiaomi, Meizu and One Plus is going to take the world by storm.
But I can say I get good 3G speeds with the Mi4 and the GPS performance is good.
Without being a xiaomi fanboy I disagree with all of your statements.
The company that lowered the bar of the price down is Xiaomi, other companies had to follow. Xiaomi that doesn’t advertise is another BS. They do it in the countries where they are officially in business.

I don’t think new SD810 devices are cheaper than MI note PRO.
I can tell you have spent zero time in India, China, Malaysia, Singapore or any other official Xiaomi country if you think they don’t do any advertising.
Look, if don’t advertising is a bullshit, Xiaomi managers like Hugo Barra gave us that notion. So if that’a bullshit it isn’t mine. They are saying that, but you can’t believe it.

Now they are trying to rise that same bar, and you are denying it cause you are blind.
I can tell you don’t know what Hugo Barra and Lei Jun talking about that.
Eventually they will reach some people who thinks Xiaomi flagships deserve $650+ prices like Samsung or Apple. So they will sell their products with that price.
That’s the ditching I’m talking about.
Are you still believing they are selling those near cost?
You have yet to mention how they are raising the bar. How did they escape from their low cost strategy? The only blind one here is you. Those phones you mentioned with the 805 all cost over $600 twice as much as the phones were are discussing here.
I work in all of those countries and I see firsthand Xiaomi advertising…….
They can’t get over that transition in one night. They are going there step by step. Despite your claim if they are priced their goods like any other brand, they would sell 60 million units only in their dreams.

Their real flagships is Mi Note Pro. It’s price is 3299CNY.
But I have to admit it has 64GB storage. So if ever they create an -lets say- 16GB version, price would likely 2799CNY considering their pricing scheme.
Mi Note is came with old hardware.
LOL. So you tried to be smartass. What I was meaning about advertising?
It’s right front of your eyes, but because of being a fanboy you can’t see it. I did your answer below.

Those are marketing choices, there’s actually a science behind it.
To figure out what’s going to sell better. Your needs are different from mine and different from Balcobomber etc.I, for example, like 5″ phones so I won’t buy their next flagship for that reason.
Not being a smartass at all. I have no clue what you meant but they do advertise.
“I could be wrong, but I have an impression Meizu was pricey and they join the price competition recently.”
You are wrong. What do you think these phones should be sold at?
No you tried exactly that.
They are repeatedly told they don’t spend money to advertisement campaigns so phones’ cost stay low. You should know.
“Prices start at 2499 Yuan for the 16GB version with no NFC, 2699 Yuan for the 32GB, and top out at 3099 Yuan for the 64GB model (the 128GB version will be 3999 Yuan).”
http://www.gizchina.com/2013/09/27/meizu-mx3-sale-today/
“The base model of the Xiaomi Mi3 with 16GB of memory will go on sale for 1999 Yuan ($320) while the top of the range model with 64GB is 2499 Yuan ($408).”
http://www.gizchina.com/2013/09/05/xiaomi-mi3-specifications/
And the phone continue to stay low, what is your point…..?
My point was clear. You twisted it.
You have no point other than you hate paying full price for phones. We all do but compared to phones for Samsung, LG, HTC or Iphone these phones are dirt cheap.
Again, my point was clear. I explained how Xiaomi could keep their prices low according to their managers’. You just tried to be smartass. And you eventually admitted it my meaning was not wrong.
Again what you seem to realize is their prices still are low….
Whether my calculation was wrong or not you still can’t admit that is an added cost? You even said it yourself “twice as much for the back”.
No one really knows what your point is. You claim they are raising prices drastically but offer zero proof other than your own opinion. It seems common sense is lost on you.
“Mi Note has OIS and back glass too.”
Which is why its costs $50 more, now do you understand?
If you were an early adopter of Xiaomi you would have paid the same exact price for the Mi2 as you would for the Mi4. At the end of the day though if you no longer think its a good value, there are hundreds of other options on the market.
For clarifying I said let’s say twice as expensive. I don’t know curved glass’ price comparing to flat glass either way.
I offer you explanation but you are ignored them. And you are trying to make it personal.
I didn’t say ever they are not low. I’m saying they used to be lower.
Not making it personal at all you really do seem to have a problem grasping the concept that the Note uses different components which is an added cost to Xiaomi.
No you are picky. I said, Mi Note isn’t a 2015 high end device. Real one is Mi Note Pro and price is undeniably higher with a clear margin.
Check out Iphone 6 and 6 Plus’s costs. Cost difference is just $15.
You do realize that these are two completely different companies? This has zero to do with Xiaomi. Apple and Samsung both have lower costs than most smartphones because they use a lot of their own components (soc, camera, memory etc).
What makes the Iphone 6 a high end phone over the Mi Note?
Redmi 2 (enhanced) is 799 yaun, the original Redmi when it launched was 799 yaun….
http://www.gizchina.com/2013/07/31/xiaomi-red-rice-launches-at-just-130-cheapest-mt6589t-phone/
It’s called simple math.
Mi4 price – 1999 yaun = $320
Mi note Price – 2299 yaun = $370
$370-$320 = $50. I’ll stand by while you check the math.
You were talking about Mi Note vs Mi Pro yet you keep mentioning the Mi4….
I believe Mi5 will be 1999 yaun with ACTUAL high end specs.
The Mi Note is a completely separate product line for Xiaomi. Just like Samsung has the Galaxy S line and the Note line. Both of those are offered with high specs for around the same price.
Do you realize it’s about how much make cost difference a phablet from regular sized phone?
Larger phones won’t cause much higher cost as you were imagined.
You are repeatedly argued over Mi Note is a phablet and you thought it’s make more difference.
So what? I’m saying same thing.
You got me. I misremembered it’s price as 2199CNY.
What’s your excuse about bringing Mi4 and Mi Note’s prices to Note vs Note Pro comparing?
Honestly I wish you will be right about that. I don’t believe.
Time will tell.
Which is one of the reasons (along with overheating issues) Samsung is using their own Exnyos chip in the S6.
nothing they don’t have real 4g lte for the USA
Then I think you are in the wrong place since you won’t be able to find any Chinese phone that use the same LTE bands used in the US
Xiaomi doesn;t have an offcial presence in North America so there is no reason for them to include LTE bands for the USA. Sales in North America for them don’t justify the cost of adding support for those countries. Give it 3-5 years and all that will change. Xiaomi, Meizu and One Plus is going to take the world by storm.
But I can say I get good 3G speeds with the Mi4 and the GPS performance is good.
$0. 16 (or rather, 8) GB is useless for me.
$0. 16 (or rather, 8) GB is useless for me.
Considering that I just picked up a shrink wrapped Galaxy S5 with local 2 year warranty and a working Cm12 for a little over 300EUR, not that much…
