Xiaomi ‘Ferrari’ breaks cover on Geekbench rocking a 4.9-inch display and Lollipop

xiaomi India

Xiaomi have been making some undercover tests for an upcoming smartphone named simply as the “Xiaomi Ferrari”.

Xiaomi are back in the spotlight again this morning. After releasing a $320 version of their popular MiTV 2 in China, a new mystery phone from the company has also been found testing over on Geekbench.

The internal name for the new model is the “Xiaomi Ferrari”, as Ferrari’s are generally thought of as red cars we can assume that this might be another addition to the Xiaomi Redmi range.

Gizchina News of the week

The Geekbench test reveals the performance of the phone, and also gives us a sneak peak at the specifications. The details tell us a Snapdragon 615 SoC has been chosen to power the Ferrari. We can also make out 2GB RAM, Android 5.0 Lollipop, 1080 display, and no NFC.

The size of the display is listed at 4.9-inch, making it slightly larger than the current Redmi 2, but smaller than the Redmi Note. Are you excited about a sub 5.5-inch, SD615 powered Xiaomi phone?

But didn’t xiaomi stop making mediatek phones? So I’ll doubt well see another one.

Well, for that matter this “Ferrari” should at least be fitted with a snapdragon 810 soc.

Judging by the fact they are using a 615 this is intended to be a mid range phone to slot in between the Redmi 2 and Mi4. Using an 810 wouldn’t make sense.

With their purchase of Leadcore we probably won’t see an MTK Xiaomi for some time, unless they ditch Qualcomm.

… but I’ll expect at least the MT6795; “Ferrari” 😉

reseller value likely over $200, my prediction this will be a 999Yuan phone

I would say the $200-225 mark is where this will be slated. A midrange option between the Redmi and Mi.

5 inch FHD display Snapdragon 615 SoC? I would like to see the battery 🙂

Probably that’s going to be Redmi Note 2.

Do you remember 64-bit cheap Xiaomi tablet rumor based on Gfxbench info? That was Redmi 2.

Already 3 months passed from Meizu M1 Note’s launch and they still will be coming with inferior chip.

    No MT6752 = No buy
No Dual SIM = No buy

If I wanted a underpowered phone I would get a mid range Sony/Samsung now tha Xiaomi prices are nearly on par with those brands on my country, and they don’t offer what the 99% of chinese phones offer, Dual SIM standby.

The giant has gone to sleep, time for someone else to take his place.

Considering we don’t even know the price of this phone, this comment is trolling at its finest. I dont know what country you live in but in the US the midrange options from Samsung all cost well over $300, which is the same price as a better spec’d Mi4. The cheapest Sony is the $250 T2 Ultra which spec wise would be considered a budget phone in China.

He has been commenting (denigrating) only on posts about Xiaomi products.
Hopefully he gets paid for it, otherwise can you imagine how sad that would be?

I have to be honest, like most of people here I don’t find the SD615 appealing at all.
And I have no basis for that, I don’t understand why.
Maybe because the mediatek counterpart 6752 looks very good and you get it for cheaper.
I guess I have to wait for some review of this phone before judging.

You’re forgetting the ban in India because of their Mediathek phones. As Xiaomi rises, haters gonna hate and they have to be careful. Mediathek powered phones for a big player in the market is an uncertain risk now.

BTW, how is GPS and battery life in the latest MTK phones? I remember it was worst and my Xperia Z1C did replace my iocean X7.

It’s not going to be 4.9″

Many geekbench leaks have been posted before with completely wrong display sizes.

100% certain this will be the new 5.5″ Redmi Note.

agreed, this looks like SoC upgrade for Redmi Note 4G. Snapdragon 400 -> 615. But still ferrari ? really ? This should be name decoy or ?
