It’s a few days late but Mlais have come through with the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the Mlais M52, but before you go ahead and make the switch you might want to check out the details.
Just as OnePlus were late with their latest OTA update, so were new kids on the block Mlais. The original launch date for Lollipop was the 10th of April, then the 15th and now finally today the 17th. The reason for the delay is unclear, but the OTA is here but you might want to put off the update for a while.
We installed the OTA this morning on our review M52. The first issue we had was a constant reboot but removing the battery solved this (not really the correct or safe method to fix it but it worked for us). Once installed the M52 booted up directly into Lollipop and it all looks good with the nice fresh Lollipop UI and animations.

This is not a completely stable ROM though and there are issues that you will need to be aware of before trying the update yourself. The biggest issue is the lack of memory left for the user to install applications, but Gmail also has sync issues and the YouTube application won’t play video. Other reported bugs are camera quality, audio quality and slow UI.
Hands on with Lollipop OTA on the Mlais M52
In its current form we would suggest you stick with Kitkat for now until Mlais can solve the update issues. We have reached out to Mlais who say they are working on the issues now and would appreciate fans to report bugs so that they can be solved in future updates.

i am trying their ota lollipop now.. this morning already flash manual lolipop.. but lot bug same as andy said.. and whatsapp always force close.. i hope ota will be different from manual update link this morning

Yes i confirm a lot of bug don’t use this update
I expect the same kinds of issues, if not more, when Ulefone updates to 5.0 so I’m going to sit tight and wait until bugs get worked out.
Mlais said it will prepare new update in a week time.

Instead of 13/8 mpix we have 8/5 mpix. Rear camera is Sony IMX219 and front OV5648.

Yup, Mlais posted an image re their update this had these camera details on. What we are trying to find out is was the image just for the purpose of how to update or was it actually for the M52? If it is the M52 it would expalin the lower camera quality than expected.
What more evidence do you need?

So what? Jiayu S3 got IMX214 the same sensor as Nexus 6 and Jiayu does very poor quality photos and even worse videos. The sensor itself means nothing…

WIFI Tethering not working on my Mlais M52 android 4.4.4
Has anyone else tested wifi tethering on their M52’s? Does it work on yours? Is there a fix to make it work? My same sim card put in my other phones wifi tethering works.
Also when I check my wireless update option in my phone, it says my system is currently up to date however I am using version 4.4.4. So is this version 5 been taking down today? Or why the @#$@@#$ does it not show I have the option to update it?

In fact, I am on such a good data sim plan here in Australia, that I am using my phone as my only Internet access.

I’ve just received my mlais m52 but having storage issues and I can’t get lollipop. Has yours got lollipop? Did it arrive with it or did you install it and how? Also, mine won’t let me use my SD card as a location to store apps or even for ten to go into my phone storage. Only allows it to go into the internal storage. I’m asking you as I’m from Sydney andbi saw your in oz as well and I thought I’d get a quick answer from a local.

Ok, some good news! haroldlloyd888 over at XDA found a solution to the Gmail sync issue:
Gmail sync: i got this to work by rebooting and turning off wifi. I tried to access play store and it told me I needed to reauthenticate. I went into Settings->Account->Google and resynced all my options. With wifi off this worked, synced my gmail and I was able to use play store again. I have not had an issue since.
