iOcean have started the pre-sale of another of their high-end Android handsets, the iOcean X9.
Earlier this year iOcean released the iOcean MT6752 Rock. The phone offered LTE, MT6752 SoC and 3GB RAM, but an odd design didn’t appeal to the masses as well as the JiaYu S3.
Just months down the line iOcean have released the iOcean X9, their ‘true’ flagship phone for 2015. Featuring a 5-inch FHD display it is smaller than the Rock, thinner too at only 6.5mm with an alloy chassis.
Gizchina News of the week
On paper the iOcean X9 looks like a promising phone with LTE, MT6753, Android 5.0, 3GB RAM and a Sony IMX214 main camera. Compared to similar phones the only item missing is a fingerprint scanner and large battery (the X9 has just a 2100mAh cell).
Anyone taken by the iOcean X9 can pre-order the device now. The official RRP for the phone will eventually be $269.99, but early birds can get it for $249.99 with a few free accessories.

2100 mAh battery? That’s so little :/
I cant even get a day out of a Nexus 4 which has the same mah.
They said it is due to the small body, they couldn’t fit in a bigger one. I find it a shame they ditched NFC, I been looking forward to this phone for a while, it was perfect for me with NFC, 5″ FHD, fastcharging, infrared and a sweet design. Now I have to look for something else ;/
Considering the 5″ and 6.5mm thickness, 2100mah is OK, but 270$ is too much for what it is. This phones specs say to me $220. 1080p and mtk6752 say to me 3.5h on screen time. Considering the kernel will most likely not be terribly optimized…. It looks good, but it a no thanks
Just spoke to iOcean to ask how they justify the high price. They say the glass and alloy body plus IMX214, fast charging etc are the reason. I still think it is way too expensive though
I would presume iocean have a higher margin setup than say elephone. This phone if it weren’t for the mtk6572 looks very much like a April 2014 launch. Including the 270$ price tag. Also Andi love this website, been visiting it for years, I live in ningbo China. From Auz though. Cheers.
4.7″ 720p amoled, 7.9mm aluminium construction, 2500mah, mtk 6795, imx230/220, stock android. 400$ price tag, would be my next phone.
What’s a cheaper alternative? I mean, with all that specs….
I will never get bored to recommend Jiayu S3. You’re saving yourself $80 too.
I actually got a chance to use the S3 for the first time the other day and while it is a good phone to me it is held back by two things: the camera isn’t as good as advertised and I am not a fan of the software.
Try using Camera FV-5, Jiayu phone is always held back by its software but there are always good communities ROM around. There’s already a lot on Needrom for example.
In fact I don’t even bother with stock rom on my G4S.
Yea I dont use stock rom either. I was just using a coworkers, he walked in and I asked to try it out. It seems like with the right software it would be an excellent phone.
Yeah, Jiayu S3 is on the market right now USD$200. Or if you don’t mind waiting a month, the Elephone P7000 even better as it got alloy chassis, USD$230.
Thanks but 5.5 is too much for me…5 it’s ok 😉
I can get G3,G2 and motoX 2014 brand new for dis dola,c’mon guys, stop dreaming
What is the difference between the MTK6752 & 53?
MT6753 is slower and cheaper.
and STILL the phone is more expensive
I assume this price is burning your eyes Yasir!
indeed! i can hardly write this reply !
*the PAIN*
and he is right
It should be burning everyone’s eyes, overprices is an understatement for this phone.
well, seems you guys only complain about the price. however, I really like the fashion design, good looking, only 6.5 mm thickness and 5” FHD is perfect to carry.
Totally agree! I don’t see a 6.5mm phone with bigger battery! think this phone is perfect for my girlfriend, she would love it 😀
well, if price was the only competition, then how Apple should do??? lol however, this price is affordable and rational if it will perform as excellent as it says.
hmm… @disqus_6PdhBK8SMh:disqus , ever wonder why we pour souls regularly wander around these lands….
not aimlessly we don’t , we search for the BEST bargain there is since Chinese tech is the only place there’s a chance we’ll get it. Apple/Samsung/Sony etc are following a pricing policy which is in a league of its own..
while the chinese have set out to BREAK that trend with better tech for lesser quid. So , you’ll see restless souls like me on almost all price-mentioned posts , commenting , discussing , bickering or just simply hanging out 🙂
and i hope it performs as excellent as you hope , since IOCEAN cameras have disappointed us badly in the past…
I will never get another phone with a battery smaller than 2500mAh, so this one is a no go.
What about iPhone?
If he wanted an Iphone he probably wouldn’t be on a site like this…
Iphone battery is less then 2000mah
I’m trying to understand what is the problem of iOcean this year…
They had so much success last year it went to their heads.
Yeah, I also think that Zopo and iOcean prices are outdated. This price was very common in 2013 when we saw their first “flagships” with old MTK6589T, on that time a FHD phone with 2GB Ram from them, aka ocean X7 Elite was more than $220. But from that time to now, things on China changed and the competition take the prices down. But they still thinking they are on 2013.
So if they use expensive materials, should they make it shipper? Main part of Chinese phones comes in plastic, doesn’t seem the case.
They think they are a premium brand.
I was excited till i saw that horrible battery and the price they are charging. No thanks.
This phone coupled with it’s pricing makes the Mi4i look even better.
I really like this phone, it is perfect beautiful and elegant, so slim! Love the black version! As far as I know as phone is slim battery cannot be bigger.
have to say, iocean M6752 has been really popular, now X9 is like an Upgrading M6752–not only the software, also the design–exactly for fashion young people! LOVE IT!
I personally think that these phone is great! How do you think you can put a bigger battery in 6.5mm?
Woow 6.5mm?? Really thin
