Is Huawei building a Google Nexus phone? Rumours suggest the answer is a big yes!
It has long been rumoured that Google would eventually team up with a Chinese phone maker to produce a Nexus device, but we have always wondered who it would be. Favourites have been Oppo, Xiaomi and ZTE, but it seems Huawei are the brand to get the contract.
Huawei hope to be one of the worlds largest phone makers with hopes to overtake rivals Samsung, and building the next Nexus phone would be a step in the right direction.

So what do we know about the Huawei Nexus phone? Well apparently Huawei are currently developing their Nexus device in China now. The phone will feature a Snapdragon 810 chipset rather than their own Kirin models, and boast a 2K display measuring 5.7-inches.
From current Huawei design trends we can assume that the Huawei Nexus will follow the alloy body and double glass theme with narrow bezels. It might be possible that the Huawei Nexus could get a fingerprint scanner and maybe even a dual camera set up like the current Huawei Honor 6 Plus!
Are you excited at the prospects of a Huawei Nexus phone?

If it were to get a 6″ screen then yes but unfortunately not. I read that lg were making the next nexus phone again, are there gonna be 2 variants or will this be an Asia only model??
Google was reportedly in talks with both Huawei and LG for the next Nexus phone. Nothing official has ever been said by Google. They weren’t pleased with the Motorolla Nexus 6 which has been a flop sales wise. They had good results with LG in the past but they wanted to improve their standing in China so they wanted to work with a Chinese company.
Personally I would love to see 3 phones by 3 different manufacturers. A budget, midrange and flagship all sporting the Nexus name.
It may be a KIRIN Soc poweres Android 2 line up also !
I’m hoping they switch to SD820 by that time. As going by that leaked Xiaomi roadmap, the Mi5 is launching in November with SD820. So hopefully this years Nexus also ends up having it too, as the Nexus phone is normally announced in October and released in November.
Are you ok?
I still believe the next nexus will be a Motorola. Usually every phone maker gets two chances in a row to make a nexus phone.
The Nexus 6 has been a sales disaster for Google, this coupled with the sale of Motorola to Lenovo is why they are moving on.
Why not a mediatek phone? Why not Meizu? I suppose the low price tag for nexi is over. Then forget it, Google, I will never buy a non mediatek phone and pay more than 300.
Using Meizu would be tough for a number of reasons. Assuming this Nexus phone is going to be sold in the US/Europe, which is Nexus biggest markets, Meizu is virtually unheard of over there. While Meizu is very big in China, they don’t have nearly the manufacturing capacity that someone like Huawei has. The low price tag for Nexus ended with the 6, although in many Asian countries it never even existed. In many countries over here the Nexus devices sold for $2-300 more than they did in the west.
Meizu phones are made by Foxconn; the capacity is there. Huawei has the almost opposite problem with notoriety, at least in the US: it is infamous for being on the government’s (or certain elements in the government) radar as a potential backdoor security risk.
By manufacturing capacity I meant the capital required to handle producing this many extra handsets with different branding and different components than Meizu uses. It’s not as simple as just sticking another label on one of their phones. Foxconn is just an OEM, they make phones for dozens of brands large and small.
Every tech company from Goolge to MSoft to Apple and even Samsung have had problems with the Government and back door risks. No one is immune to it these days.
I remember when Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 in Thailand are really expensive. The price when Nexus 5 release in Thailand is 16,990 for 16GB no micro sd slot and not so top camera.
Yea even today they are still selling the Nexus 4 in some shops for like 12,900 baht.
At least it should have 4g bands for the USA. Something all the other phones on this site seem to forget to include the USA in their 4G phones.
Preach.
The reason most of them don’t have USA 4G bands is for two reasons:
1. Most of these phones are never meant for the USA market, any sales in the US are not enough to justify adding the extra antenna required.
2. The USA operates on different LTE bands than the rest of the world. Just about every other country has a network that at least operates on one of the 4 major bands (1, 3, 7 for FDD and 40 for TDD).
I just want “hi-fi” audio and <400$ price!
For now both are way off :S
maybe i am a bit maniac about the "Hi-fi" feature 😀
