Ulefone have announced that a stable build of Android 5.0 Lollipop has been released for the Ulefone Be Pro.
With a quad-core 64bit processor and 2GB RAM, the Ulefone Be Pro was just begging for a Lollipop update, and here it is. The good news is that this is a stable build (according to Ulefone) and comes after various beta versions were tested by fans, the bad news is that it is a manual update and not an OTA.

Ulefone’s official word on this is that there is an issues with Mediatek which prevents an Android 5.0 Lollipop to be successful if sent OTA. We’re not sure if this is accurate but it might explain issues other phone makers have had with their updates from Kitkat.
Thankfully Ulefone have provided update instructions over on their official website.

I always said MediaTek was no good if you ever want OTA on your phone and this just continues to prove my point. There is a reason why big premium Chinese companies like Xiaomi and Vivo are avoiding them like the plauge.
Cool but mlais and jiayu say otherwise.
Please stick to xiaomi and vivo, while we on gizchina enjoy our “not premium but still making great phones” compagnies which use mediatek 🙂
jiayu and mlais are second rate when you compare by just the support they offer you after you buy their product. Not saying they are bad phones (especially the the s3 looks really good) but their is a reason why Xiaomi and vivo phones cost more.
Just be sure to download the Driver from mobildingser.de.
Scroll down and look for the article about the Be Pro Lollipop. Driver is Treiber in German. Download that then go to Ulefans.com where you download the flashing tool.
Follow the steps on Ulefans and you should be okay. I dreaded doing it because I haven’t done this before but my phone is running okay. Also, apparently there will be no OTA for Lollipop from Ulefone, at least that’s what they’re saying now, so if you want the OTA to fix the current known bugs then you have to install Lollipop manually.
Of course 4.4.4 ain’t so bad so if you don’t want to go through the process then don’t. Someday maybe Ulefone will figure out how to do a Lollipop OTA. Maybe they won’t bother.

The biggest mistake that Ulefone did was released a “test”version of the Lollipop via OTA in the first place. This has caused many customers Be Pro to “brick” and caused much anxiety. The latest Lollipop (20150507) still has bugs, but is much better than the first faulty Lollipop (20150427).
