Exclusive: First real MT6795 Elephone Vowney photos emerge

Elephone have been good enough to said us exclusive first photo of their upcoming Elephone Vowney phone.

Previously this device and its Windows 10 counterpart were simply know as Version A and Version B. The official name for them (or at least the Android version of the phone) is the Elephone Vowney and we are lucky enough to have the first real photos of the phone.

The Vowney is scheduled to launch on 20th June, as long as everything goes to plan, and with a 2K display, 4GB RAM, 20.7 mega-pixel pain camera and the option to run Cyanogen12 or stock Android 5.1 Lollipop it is already turning some heads.

Gizchina News of the week

Other details of this flagship phone include 32GB internal memory, a generous 3800mAh battery, 8 mega-pixel front camera and powerful Mediatek MT6795 chipset.

Elephone haven’t revealed the official retail price of the phone just yet, but we have seen resellers list the device at $329.99 (we think it will be a little less).

Looks nice but I question the timing of it. They just released their “annual flagship” the P7000 and less than a month later are launching a new flagship? Seems like this announcement will cannibalize the P7000’s sales.

sometimes they do these odd things, like when p3000s (mt6592) was released and mt6752 version was announced just a couple of weeks later.

Wow! Another Elephone! This is slowly becoming just a news feed for Elephone it seems!?

(Joking, but I do find it strange how fast Elephone rip through their models…)

Interesting. We are getting to the point where good spec’d phones will get to the common masses.

Perhaps potential buyers are still looking for the right catch. And with all the new Mediatek processor info off late, it is difficult for suppliers to assemble a phone which will will appeal to the customer for, let’s say, the next three month’s. According to me it will give plenty of space to “Crazy Thursday Sales” like iOcean .

Kind of nice phone but why they can’t get rid of those thick black bezels. Thin white top and bottom of the screen and around it there are thick black bezels … What a pity. Why insert 2K? FHD is fully enough.

8xA53 at 2GHz with Cat 6 LTE and 2x20carrier aggregation arriving in Q4. So just an upgraded 6752 but significant enough.

Based on the specs here: http://www.devicespecifications.com/en there’s a chance this could get 4G in the U.S. but those specs aren’t always correct. The only way to know is to get the phone and then go into engineer mode to check frequencies, which really ought to be a standard part of any review here…please.

If I were in the market for a new phone right now, and I’m not, I’d be more inclined toward the 4gb Zenfone 2 because I know it gets 4G in the U.S. and is priced about the same as the rumored price of the Vowney.

I must say, that I’m really impressed with the rate Elephone are banging out these new model’s. Apple’s rate of progression is embarrassing by comparison. I heard some where that in eastern business thinking success is measured more exclusively in units shifted rather than share price (which can be manipulated), if that’s the case then releasing newer models at a higher rate would make sense. I just wish the western world woke up to Apple’s criminality with their deliberately limited iphone that has to use shitty itunes, and its way, way over priced for what it is. Its upsetting to know that Apple is making so much money in China when is true value only amounts to nothing more than a novelty….

too many models = low/none software support. My Xiaomi Mi3W is still based on kitkat 4.4. It looks like Xiaomi is going downhill with software support. LG G2 (which is another 2013 phone) already have lollipop 5.0 and soon it will get lollipop 5.1. Why Elepehone and other chinese companys don’t actively support their flagship phones with new versions of android. I was waiting for Mi 5 for my next phone but now I’m disappointed, MIUI still gets minor updates every week but updates that we all want are missing. Soon Google will announce Android M and how many chinese flagship phones from 2013 have lollipop. Damn chinese manufacturers, why they don’t copy apple/samsung/lg/sony flagship software support policies

    • claymore
      May 15, 2015

MediaTek is really bad when it comes to releasing/supplying sources plus most of it has stupid copyright tags. So they’re the first one to blame. Second: software support costs money whereas releasing a new device every month or so makes money. Do the math… In a fast growing market you get 10 new potential customers for every disappointed buyer. Why bothering?

      • alen
        May 16, 2015

I understand math but this is bad policy. Customers will sooner or later label Xiaomi (and other companies which do not give software updates) as second tier companies which are good only for low cost phones. Personally I do not want to spend $500+ for Xiaomi (or Elephone) knowing that I will not get android updates. This is OK for sub $200 phones but if you want to play in major league satisfied customer is very important.

Looks like Andi is being sponsored by Elephone as their official spokesman. Andi are you sure there any payments involved from elephone to you for all the recent elephone publicity on this site, new presale codes etc?

A new flagship will screw the price of the P7000 hence Elephone trying to cash in now with the hype.

Also the black bars around the screen are still backward with the likes of ZTE Nubia going completely bezless and end to end screening.
