If you are trying to keep details of the Gionee Elife E8 a secret until launch then look away now as here is an early video leak of the phone.

The Gionee Elife E8 is shaping up to be one of the phones we cannot wait to try this year. It will pack a powerful octacore MT6795 chipset, 3GB RAM and fingerprint scanner, basically the standard for current Chinese phones.

In addition the Elife E8 will have a 23 mega-pixel main camera capable of 100 mega-pixel photos with thanks to special features found in the Android 5.0 based ROM. It all sounds great doesn’t it, but how will it look?

Below is a short video hands on with the Gionee Elife E8 showing that the flagship in action and also showing a removable rear with dual SIM and micro SD card space, but built in battery. NFC also appears to be part of the package as well as dual rear speakers.

Gizchina News of the week

The video also states the Gionee Elife E8 will have a USB 2.0 (not Type C), and measure in at 154 x 82.3 x 9.6mm. Obviously this is a pre launch device and the OS seems to need a lot of optimisation as it isn’t as fast as the specs would suggest.

A launch date for the Gionee Elife E8 hasn’t been announced yet but we expect it to go on sale in the next few months.

I love Gionee phones but this is too big and ugly for my tastes. I would much rather wait for the S7 to come down in price.

Have to agree to disagree. I am just not a fan of most phones over 5.5 inches (Note 3/4 and Mi Note are the few I like), they often look chunky and ugly to me.

For HIS taste, it is. He clearly specified that. As to it being big, there aren’t many who would find a 6 inch “phone” easy to handle. Maybe… Shaq, or Ghita Muresan :). I think the measurements are correct. At least the height. A 6 inch phablet, at 154 mm tall, should have next to nothing for top and bottom bezels. That doesen’t seem to be the caseif we take the above video as evidence. Plus, look how ugly and big it is :D.

Was waiting for this phone but can’t wait a couple of months! Will wait and see what vivo do next month if anything. I wish they would make the corners more rounded though.

Since Gionee owns Iuni, a somewhat related news, the Iuni U3 price in China dropped to 1399CNY(226$) with it’s 1440p screen, SD801, 3GB RAM and so on….
Funny how it goes. Meizu MX4 drops at 1499CNY and the Pro at 1799, OPO at 1499, Huawei Honor 6 at 1499, Xiaomi MI4 at 1499 , now Iuni U3 bellow all.

I don’t mind the size of the screen but at 9.6 mm it’s a bit chunky.

Am I the only one who thinks that this looks a bit like the OF7?
