Windows 10 for Mi4 will be available from 1st June!

Windows 10

Early June is going to see news from 3 big names in Chinese tech. Xiaomi’s contribution is the release of Windows 10 for the Xiaomi Mi4!

Early on this year we were surprised with many pictures and even videos showing Xiaomi’s Mi4 running the new Windows 10 OS from Microsoft. Since then few details have been released but the shear possibility of the Mi4 running a new OS is a pretty juicy piece of news.

For those of you waiting to get your hands on Windows 10 for the Mi4 then good news is coming. Xiaomi have just created a sub forum for Microsoft OS on their Chinese forums and according to them a first release of the Windows 10 will be available to be installed from 1st June.

We still can’t say for sure if the system will be available to all Xiaomi Mi4 owners or will be for only a select group of community, ie in a closed preview group. Still no word if the international MIUI forums will also offer the option to download the preview OS at the start of June either.

Gizchina News of the week

The plans of Xiaomi with Microsoft remains uncertain, but it is easy to assume that both companies win something with their working together. Microsoft can meet a considerable growth of their OS for mobile handsets in China. While Xiaomi also has much to gain from the partnership, and of course to innovate again with the option of offering more than one OS for their devices.

Looks like it’s not for everybody but you have to sign up for beta testing.
It’s all in Chinese though so it’s kinda hard to do that even with Google translation.
All this harassment to try Windows?
    Thanks but no thanks.

Can only imagine how much M$oft is paying Xiaomi for this to happen. I have used Windows phone in the past and while it is a unique ecosystem with some cool tricks the lack of apps is just too much of a hurdle to pass. Some of the most popular apps are missing or non functional.

True about the lack of apps balco. However from a business point of view, the Calendar sync on a Windows phone is second to none. Hving tried this out for a week on a previous Windows phone, it works really well. Haven’t had the same luck with Android’s Calendar sync to a Microsoft Exchange account..

It really all depends on the business. More and more business are getting away from Microsoft email. My work and almost all my clients use Gmail for Business which lets you use your own domain name with the Gmail client.

Been wondering for years why companies still use MS. I set up a dozen small companies with Google Apps while it was free for up to 10 emails. Everybody is happy with Gmail on their own domain name and it works perfectly with the Gmail app on android.
I imagine it would work just as fine for larger companies.

It’s excellent for large companies. We have it for a company with 15 offices in 10 different countries, we all have access to the same shared GDrive where all of our documents are saved and we never have had a server problem in the 1.5 years we have been using it. Our MSoft Exchange server would have a problem weekly.

Microsoft is going to release compilers that everyone will be able to use and create Microsoft app out of android and apple apps code.

That might change soon though. Microsoft seem to be willing to change to make it happen for Windows 10. On the other hand, they said the same about 8 and 7 too…

You can’t imagine how much me and other people want a good high-end Windows phone, specially with version 10. It doesn’t exist to day.

There are already Android phones everywhere, so to stand out with Windows 10 can be a smart idea if it takes off for real.

People have been waiting for it to take off since it was first introduced. With each new version released the story is always the same “This is the one that is going to be game changing”.
