Elephone P8000 breaks cover again in hands on Video

We may have only just received the Elephone P7000 last week, but this doesn’t stop Elephone posting a hands on video with the Elephone P8000. Watch it here.

The Elephone P7000 was a phone many of us waited months for, but already a more upmarket version with new design and slightly higher specifications is already on its way. It is called the Elephone P8000 and according to sources it will feature an octacore MT6753 chipset, 3GB RAM, 13 mega-pixel Sony camera and 5.5-inch 1920 x 1080 display. The keen eyed of you will see that the SoC in the P8000 is a newer octacore with, what Mediatek call, WorldMode 4G LTE for better global LTE support.

Gizchina News of the week

In addition to the new chipset, the P8000 has a fingerprint scanner, dual LTE SIM support, micro SD card, Android 5.1 but most interestingly a 4165mAh battery!

Elephone are apparently hoping to launch the Elephone P8000 on 20th July at a retail price of just $209.99! We wonder how this is going to go down with current P7000 buyers?

They can’t even ship the P7000 on time, and you think they can make the P8000 in July. The
    biggest joke of the year

Becasue Elephone and Ulefone are hopeless. The can’t fuckin make slim bezels.
Pathetic. If they can’t do it right at least white colour should be forbidden for them.

As consumer I’m glad to see Elephone taking the leadership (a prolific smartphone maker) and pressing the competition with a very diversified offer. However, it is disappointing to notice that none of them address the N. American market. Mediatek can call its chipsets “WorldMode 4G LTE for better global LTE support” but the fact is I do not know any MTK6735 or MTK6753 or even MTK 6795 based smartphone which supports N. America LTE (band or category 4 LTE) + 3G WCDMA 850/1900 MHz! Except Asus Zenfon 2, I do not know any P7000 or Lenovo Lemo K3 like ($150 to $250) smartphone which supports these frequencies. If they exist, please let me know. Thanks in advance.

damn, i was hoping this WorldMode LTE would mean it worked in the US. I could settle for a slower processor if the frequencies were right. guess the wait continues.

Today one of my co-workers told me he got a new phone and asked me if I could help him to move the sim card from his old phone. Well, that was a full 4G capable BLU phone.
It’s a Gionee phone rebranded as BLU for north America market and it supports US LTE bands.
        They are sold at Wal-Mart.
OnePlus One also supports 4G on AT&T and T-Mobile and goes on sale this month for 249$

I have searched few times in the past 2 months and I could not find any Blu phone which really supports band 4 LTE. Of course, some of them have “International LTE” which may be partially compatible with cell phone services. Of course, they may be used as a 3G phone. Please name the model if find it. Thanks.

As far as I knew they all support band 4 and band 7 (1700/2600MHz)
            http://www.phonedog.com/2014/12/24/blu-products-unveils-trio-new-4g-lte-android-phones

You should be able to have LTE with the One Plus one since it supports those bands as well.

Usually people complain of lack of band 2 or band 17 in Chinese phones.

Which carrier are you going to use your phone with?

Thanks, It seems that it is still too difficult to buy One Plus one at $250. It is available just few hours on certain days. You are right for the Blue models described in the link, they are compatible but Studio 6 is too big, and the others 2 are already outdated and too expensive for what they offer. Studio 5 HD LTE is $137 on Amazon.com. Better buy the Zenfone 2 at $199.

              I totally forgot the Zenfone.
I would go with that one too

NUU Mobile has support for band 2, 4, 17 FDD-LTE, and supports Band 4 AWS for T-mobile HSPA+ network, so it’s truly made for USA market only. And your other option would be MOTO E, but not good in spec wise. BLU has lots of quality issues, they tend to sell phones that don’t do well or EOL, so buy it off cheaper and sell it cheaper. Just selling dead stock to the Americans….lol

Thank you for your reply. We all understand that the chipset is ready. The cold reality is that, the device (smartphone) is not! It may be just the the OS software that needs to be adapted…. Personally, I think it takes more than that.

NUU Mobile is selling MTK and Qualcomm based smartphones in USA, both HSPA+ and LTE, works well with AT&T and T-Mobile … And it’s available both in stores and online with local warranty and customer service … Its better than betting on unknown vendors with no local support ….

http://www.willmyphonework.net/ says it is not LTE compatible. Use this service for any other phone. If the device is not listed, then select the “Is your device not listed ?” and write an email. They will add it within few days.

World Mode LTE is really a misnomer. Sure the chip supports all frequencies but it’s up to the handset maker to stipulate the frequencies… and the same old frequencies always get used. Wouldn’t it be nice to dial up the frequencies using software…!
In au the 700mhz band is used by the two major telco’s (as well as 2600), But I doubt I’ll ever see a chinese phone supporting 700mhz.

      June 2, 2015

Another factor preventing cell phone manufacturers from producing a true ‘world-phone’ is the antennas. Each band requires it’s own antenna which brings up costs and takes up ‘real-estate’ on the phone. There can be some overlap, say, between the 850 and 900 MHz bands but performance will be compromised.
In the end, the Chinese manufacturers will include only the bands with the biggest potential market.

Can someone ask Elephone what the hell is going on with that big thick black border crap once again?

I mean, LG managed to create the G3 LAST YEAR with very very slim bezels and NO big thick black border…

And so many have achieved the same since… Why Elephone?
