Alcatel OneTouch has made available the Pixi 3 (4) smartphone in the UK with O2 for just £34.99 on Pay As You Go.
The phone was initially launched in January this year, and as you would guess from the price, it is quite an entry-level phone. It has only a 4-inch screen, quite an anomaly in this day and age. The screen is a WVGA panel, and along with that the Pixi 3 has a dual-core MediaTek processor with a clock rate of 1GHz, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of on-board storage.
Gizchina News of the week
On the rear the phone has a 5 mega-pixel camera, while the front features a 2 mega-pixel sensor. Lastly, there’s a 1400mAh battery that powers the phone.
This £35 piece of kit might not appeal to the power users, but it does make sense to get something like the Pixi 3 if you’re on the lookout for a super affordable phone which is not a dumb phone. The Pixi 3 can be bought off of the O2 store for UK buyers.
I think this is quite a clever deal. It has better specs than the very first HTC Desire I bought in 2010.
Yeah but your Desire was running android 2.x . This one (from the pic at least) seems to run android 5 which (as … the name implies) uses 2.5 times the resources of android 2. So this phone would be the equivalent of having 200 MB of Ram back in 2010, i.e. unusable…
It would be a steal if it could somehow come with old Android version.

A dumb phone would be the better choice. I had a phone with similar specs and it was struggling with basic tasks.

That’s what you get from a $50 phone. A better choice would be to save up a little more money and get a better phone.
If you get the Firefox version, you should be fine.
Not a big fan of Firefox
