Phone maker Ecoo, known most recently for the Ecoo E04 phone, are set to release a new device based on the design of the Meizu m2 but with rear Touch ID fingerprint scanner.
With a 5-inch display, halo home button and Mediatek MT6735 chipset on board, the E03 looks just like how we envisage the Meizu m2 (set for release later this month). The phone isnāt a Meizu though and is in fact a new model from phone maker Ecoo.
Gizchina News of the week
So far we only have a snapshot of the full specifications which include a Touch ID fingerprint scanner on the rear under an 8 mega-pixel Sony IMX219 main camera. Android 5.0 Lollipop is the OS that will ship with the phone.
What we can se from the render is that the body style is very similar to Meizu Meilan range with a halo home button and apparent unibody plastic construction. From past experience with Ecoo we can guess the E03 will be a highly competitive low-cost phone.

sounds pretty cool, finally a smaller model. let’s just hope the battery doesn’t suck…
Again the scanner on the rear..such a bummer š But maybe I just need to get used to it. Next to that: device it looking good! Certainly has potential š
I find it very natural and easy to have the scanner on the back, I always pick up my phone anyways so it doesn’t take much extra effort for me to do a quick swipe.
imx 219 ?! woah !
where’s Balco when you need em ? š
According to Google search, Sony IMX219 is a low quality 8 megapixel 1/4″ format sensor. Not so great.
aww.. cwap !
It’s not exactly low quality, it is the same sensor found in the Zenfone 5 which takes very good pictures. Obviously not as great as some of the flagships available but for phones under $200 it is good.
Sony’s numbering does not go in order! This was released in 2014 and is an 8mp unit.
aww.. cwap.
y u do dis sony… :'(
altho xalis has given some pretty nice explanation š
The IMX219q is a good sensor for budget phones, I made some comparation shots of the Mlais M52(IMX219q) and the Nubia Z7 Mini (IMX214), the first shots the IMX214 was WAY ahead but it turns out Mlais software was shit, and after a OTA update the IMX219q performs nearly on par with the IMX214 with natural light or places with high ilumination and only falls behind on low light shots, so the IMX219q with good software is a pretty good budget sensor, I will share some images in few mins.
thanks man… i really appreciate u helping a brother out š
Software can make or break a sensor which is why two phones with the same setup can have drastically different results. That;s the one thing many people don’t take into account when looking at a phones camera, they only look at the MP’s and aperture. The Iphone 6 has an 8mp lens with F2.2 aperture, it takes some of the best photo;s of any smartphone. Because it has amazing optics and excellent software.

And here is an almbum with shots with the Nubia Z7 Mini, Elephone P6000 and Mlais M52.
Not the best sensor, but not bad at all.

thanks š
thanks š
yeah.. its actually decent.. PROVIDED that the phone makes keep the OTA nice and clean š
Looks quite nice, but sure about the MT6735 on it? MT6735 is the more budget of 64bit line, And so far the phones that I saw with it until now, have only the MT6735P version with 1.0Ghz clock.
By the sound of it this is a budget phone. The Elephone P4000 has the 1.3Ghz version of the 6735.
