Elephone have sent us this design schematic of a new and named device along with features the phone will have to offer.
Do you have your Elephone P7000 yet? What about your P8000? If not don’t fret as there is yet another Elephone smartphone to come. The new phone, which is currently without a name (Elephone P20,000?), is coming soon apparently but so far there is no definitive launch date.
We do have a few details of the smartphone though. The device will features a 5.5-inch display and uses a frameless design. Were not sure if this means it simply looks frameless when the screen is locked or if they are using a similar frameless technology as Oppo and Nubia on the new phone, although the latter seems more likely looking at the image.

The dimensions of the battery are 65 x 90 x 3.8mm and on the design it is listed as a 3000mAh battery, but our source says that a larger battery could make its way in to the finally production model.
Finally a physical home button sits below the frameless display and will have a built-in fingerprint scanner similar in design to the Meizu MX4 Pro and (possibly) MX5.

Well as a P7000 owner I’m pissed off. They need to stop making existing customers feel like their purchases are obsolete almost immediately. Also, these quick releases must be draining on the software development team, who have to maintain the software for so many devices at one time. This shows in the quality of the software, which often feel half-baked.
Take my P7000 for example. The SoC is obviously very potent (it actually launches applications faster than my Note 4), but the scrolling is VERY jerky. This won’t be so bad if they were to release source code to the community so we can fix their mistakes, but so far they have claimed to be doing that for the P8000, and “trying” for the P7000.
I know that feeling. I bought an UMi eMax during the flash sale on impulse, my phone has not yet arrived and UMi is now parading their new phone which looks much better spec-wise (except SoC) compared to the phone I bought, I mean it uses the eMax main camera as its front facing camera, lol. And it is priced almost the same.
I did not see any sign of multi-color notification led nor IR-blaster window. Will it has NFC or wireless charger?
Where are they getting their money from? I mean, I know a lot of people went out and ordered the P7000, then the P8000 came out mega quick and upset the P7000 people, now this will upset both the P7000 and P8000 people and so to me, Elephone appear as if it’s run by a child with rich parents, it’s as if the rich parents gave the child a phone manufacturing plant to play around with and that child is just having a mess around with different designs all the time for fun..?
It really doesn’t seem the right way to run a business at all!
The money they earn from preorders. Too many people are waiting orders of elephone p7000 that bought 1 month ago. This company is a joke and didnt repect the customers.

It seems like they run the businesses without assets.
They finance the company with the preorders.
To make more understandable:
They don’t have the money to make all the P7000 so they make a P8000 which you can preorder. The income of the P8000 preorder goes to the manufacturing of the P7000.
And the P8000 manufacturing will be financed by eg. vowney preorders.
If one time the preorders would stop, they would have hard time to able to ship the preordered phones.
This is only a theory, but I saw this before with other companies.
Sort of correct. But they use the preorders of a current phone to pay for that phone. So the P7000 preorders paid the manufacture of the P7000. (P7000 is rumoured to have been discontinued by the way)
In that case it is OK.
But still the new models comes too fast to a small company like Elephone able to support it properly.
This can be astounding, but I would pay for software support.
Not much, eg. 10 USD / new mayor android/ROM version.
If there are eg at least 200 people who willing to pay, that can be enough motivation to work on software support instead of releasing new phones constantly.

If it’s been discontinued then that means software support stops?
I think you have a point here, why else would they be anouncing so many phones is such a short time.
Maybe they should try Kickstarter.
Meh. I’m just waiting for them to release that promised phone with Android and windows dual boot. Running on an intel processor. (Seriously needs to be able to HDMI output to a monitor too) Nothing they could come out with short of that could ever convince me to stop using xiaomi phones 🙂
call me a heretic but i missed out on the bit about the so-called “BORDERLESS TECH” used by Nubia and Oppo …

Hmm.. don’t really know what to think of this. Smells more like they are trying to get some bezel fans back but they could have just made this up quickly.
I own a G6 and imo its a great phone, looks good and mostly works good to with the help from a custom rom I found at NeedRom, So why they are messing their flagship devices like the P7000 and P8000 is a mystery for me
A physical home button is such a (bad) throwback to the past. Instead of iPhone getting over it (I mean seriously, it’s an 8 year old idea, ipod’s control scheme couldn’t live 4 years), now androids are copying it.
Nexus found such a beautiful solution via using soft keys, minimizing that ugly, awkward phone chin, it’s so sad seeing such bad ideas copied. As for biometrics it’s much better when it’s on the back as it can used one handed…
