Mystery Xiaomi device with dual cameras gets leaked

Xiaomi has yet to release the anticipated Redmi Note 2, but there’s already leaked pictures on the internet of a completely new Xiaomi device complete with a dual rear camera setup. Whether this picture is legitimate or not is up for debate, but we’ll give it the benefit of the doubt.

The device has a jet black glossy finish on its rear which looks to be plastic or glass. There’s a pair of flush rear cameras and a dual LED flash as well as the instantly familiar Mi logo. The device also seems to have some sort of metal frame around it, with a USB port at the bottom. There appears to be no speakers on the bottom or rear of the device, possibly meaning that it’ll have front facing speakers which would be a refreshing change from the norm.

Gizchina News of the week

As previously stated, we still have no idea about the legitimacy of this photo, nor do we have any idea where it would fit into Xiaomi’s device portfolio. We could potentially see this materializing as the Mi5, but the choice of a glossy black finish strikes us as an odd choice for a flagship product, unless it’s actually glass and it’s just tough to see in the photo. What do you think about this device? Does it seem legitimate? Where would it fit? Tell us in the comments.

Even if it isn’t in the flagship lineup, glossy plastic should be banned cause it makes phones feel cheaper

And on the edges of the phone (because of the reflection of the lights ) there seems to be something like 2.5D or 2.0D plastic/glass

agree. everytime I pick up my wife’s samsung s3, it amazes me why on earth manufacturers would go for glossy. it makes for a shitty grip.

Maybe because every time you wipe it
IT GIVES YOUR PHONE A NEW SHINE so you can stand out in the crowd or something like that?

haha definitely, they produce only black phone 9 months after the release of the white version. resellers knows that everybody want the black one so they inflate the price to make more money. pathetic imo!

yeah, another funny fact is that Xiaomi itself shows the black version of the phone at launch but then they sell the white version only.

resellers sell the white version only showing the picture of the black one.

The real reason that kept me away from the Mi4 and go with the Mi3.

If it’s a leak must be a white one instead a black one
