Doogee’s Y100 Pro has been on pre-order on a lot of web stores for a while now, and has finally started shipping. We’ve been testing the phone for the last couple of days or so, and to say it is the Moto G of Chinese phones would be the best way to describe it.
For quite a while it was believed that the rear of the Doogee Y100 Pro would be an HTC M8-esque metal, but as it was revealed and as we found out, it is in fact plastic.
Doogee want to tell buyers that it isn’t everyday low-quality plastic, but proper, high-grade polycarbonate.

“Eco-friendly polycarbonate” is what Doogee use to describe the material used to make the Y100 Pro’s rear. Eco-friendly polycarbonate sounds like a bit of an oxymoron to me, but whatever sails their boat. In hindsight, the phone actually feels very good in the hands with the soft-ish grippy back that seems to be inspired by ergonomic design.
Doogee go on to mention that they use high quality aluminum alloy before crushing it into nanoscale powder. This power is mixed with paint and then sprayed onto the polycarbonate rear.
The Doogee Y100 Pro is fairly affordable and features a great build quality for the money. Our review of the phone will be up by the end of this week, so stay tuned.
Too bad the company isn’t costumer friendly as well.
Polycarbonate is about as eco friendly as black coal, which is often used in many of the factories that produce it.

I’m pretty happy with the phone. The build is very nice, and it is very easy to use in one hand. MT6732 would’ve been a much better choice, though…

If you peel off the label from the battery you will see it is a 1800 mAh not 2200 as is written on the label
Wouldn’t be the first time Doogee lied about a spec.
it’s maybe a prototype, because there have a lot review of y100 pro released, it seems the battery is real 2200

Things Doggee forgot to mention/lied in the specs (I’m pissed cause I ordered one…) –
Processor is the P version. only 1GHz. very slow and 3D games are unplayable.
Camera is Sony Imx219 – old sensor with just 8mp, not 13.
Back is not metal (like they claimed everywhere)
Battery is not 2200, it’s 1750 mah. same as the UMI Hammer fiasco.
So basically this is anything but PRO. the previous version actually had better performance, and is cheaper, and with good reviews.
Shame on Doggee for lying so bluntly. up till now they were the best low end brands.
