Releasing source code was always a bit of a sore point for Chinese phone makers, but now everyone is doing it including China’s very own Blackview.
Blackview have made a few phones that have been picked up on our radar recently. What has always impressed us about Blackview devices is that they are better made than you might expect and use quality materials.
Now another tempting reason to consider a Blackview device for you next phone is that they are aiming to attract global developers to build custom roms for their up coming Blackview Alife P1 Pro and the Blackview Omega Pro (?).
Out of the box both of these devices will ship with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, but with the aid of developers we will see CyanogenMod 12.1, Flyme 4.5, Miui V6 and ColorOS ported to the devices.
As an early teaser Blackview have put together a short video of the new Blackview Alife P1 Pro running Cyanogen 12.1. Check it out below.
The Blackview Alife P1 Pro will cost just $99.99 once launched and comes with a 5.5-inch HD display, 64bit MT6735 chipset, 2GB RAM, dual SIM and a 3000mAh battery.
What about Alife S1? They said won’t update anymore and has some problems.
S = shit?
Damn company.
I really don’t care with lollipop, no problem with KK, but you can’t have a phone with battery drain problems since the beginning. Don’t talk about that green blur taking pictures with flash.
Take of transparent case when using flash
It’s not that
go cry to their support, no need to release your anger in here.
Support hahahaha
I tell people so they don’t get a faulty phone, so you could shut up
Beside a bit weaker battery im really pleased with the phone. No green blur, no lag i great performance for the price. It would be shame if it doesnt get lollipop
They said it won’t have lollipop update, maybe with this source code release they give opportunity to make custom Roms.
About that green blur only appears with low light photos in the center of the screen, I hardly notice till I took a picture in the dark with flash (without transparent case). Don’t know what’s wrong with battery, at 15% drains so fast and charging it’s takes a lot of hours to get 100% (5 hours or so) I’m doing a battery calibration right know.
About the performance it’s OK, faster, good UI, sound, average pictures without flash

Lol What is happening? I mean how these companies can share the source if MTK doesn’t allow? So they’re paying for the source, and sharing it for everyone? No matter the reasons this is great for us users, first Elephone and now Blackview, hope others get the wave.

Going down the Elephone route of promising a shed load of different ROMS? Lets hope they are more reliable at keeping their promises than elephone. At least with the source code, we can rely on android enthusiasts to iron out the bugs which the companies never seem to care about!
There are lots of rom ports for elephone phones, most are missing things like fingerprint support, but cm12.1, flyme etc can be run on the p7000. And now with the p8000 we should see a lot more action as kernel sources have been released.
let’s say thanks to elephone as it looks like we could finally see other china companies follow suit which will be great for everyone.
