Just when we thought Xiaomi had forgotten about the art of making the perfect mid-range phone, the company comes out with one that almost has enough to take down the flagships from around the world. For reference, the new Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 (specifications) has the same SoC as Meizu and HTC’s (among other) flagships.
This puts the Redmi Note 2 in the league of some other budget mid-range phones from China. Two of the most popular ones for now happen to be the LeTV S1 and the Meizu m2 note. If you’re confused which one you should go for, or just want to have a better perspective on things, read along.
Gizchina News of the week
Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 vs LeTV S1 vs Meizu m2 note: Specifications
[table id=211 /]Quite clearly, the m2 note has the weakest specifications of the three. The LeTV S1 and the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 are quite neck and neck, but once you take price into consideration, the Redmi Note 2 blows the S1 out of the water. Expect Xiaomi to release another phone in the coming months with 3GB RAM, the lack of which seems to be a major gripe among GizChina readers.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 vs LeTV S1 vs Meizu m2 note: Verdict
Given the huge price difference between the LeTV S1 and the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2, there ought to be other differences as well… one of those being build. We’re hoping we’re wrong, because the LeTV S1 comes with an impeccable build and to have something like that on the US$125 Redmi Note 2 would be an out-of-the-world sort of a thing.
The m2 note pretty much doesn’t stand a chance against the other two, and despite being Meizu’s second budget phablet for this year it doesn’t match the other two spec for spec. Nonetheless, we’re pretty certain many other Chinese manufacturers will step up with their game after this launch. For now, the Redmi Note 2 looks like the ultimate budget phone (on paper).
Is letv cam good as Meizu?
Seriously??? Letv cam is way better than Meizu’s.
Just asking as I haven’t used letv. Have Meizu.
You most likely have the x600 as i see
Affirmative.
I am wondering, where is a catch with xiaomi. Pretty nice specs, but the price suggests, that something cheap must be inside.
Just like the first redmi note
I used the Redmi Note 4G, and there wasn’t much wrong with it outside of the music player sometimes pausing. What was wrong with the first generation devices?

xiaomi even comes with quick charge that even letv s1 dont have
Letv comes with OIS that Xiaomi doesn’t have.
If i am not wrong. There is no OIS on x600 model
yes there is no ois on the x600
you’re right
Don’t mind them, it has OIS. Its official page states the fact.

Letv S1 can be fully charge for round 2 hours and it has OIS.
1.5A is hardly quick charge
Nice comparison.
The Meizu has a rather good screen, the screen would be decent even for high end. The M2 might have a better battery life too. We’ll see how Xiaomi did on the screen side .The design and UI are factors that will also matter for each buyer.
The LeTv has much nicer dimensions (147.8 x 74.2 x 9.5mm) and design ,3GB of RAM but could use a price drop.
How it will affect sales of the Mi4i if it came to India let’s say for Rs. 9,999?
Mi4i has a better camera and a better 95% NTSC gamut screen which Redmi note 2 doesnt have.

Mi4i is more compact, so that’s one reason people might go for it instead. Aside from that, RIP Mi4i.

Xiaomi have also removable battery despite Letv and Meizu have non-removable battery.
removable battery is AN HUGE PLUS….. if u want to keep the phone for years…. because batteries generally die after 2/3 years….
presale of the redmi 2 is 225 dollars though in gekbuying, also it doesnt seem to have gorilla glass
Xiaomi sets the pace on budget phones, and others follow.
Of course, thats why last and this year were overpriced or with crappy snapdragon 4xx processors (sarcastic mode). That’s the very first xiaomi since redmi (2-3 years ago?) that could be price/quality breaker. If resellers don’t steal us, of course…
Such a long time since xiaomi doesn’t mark any pace on budget phones… They probably realize that now (seeing the competitors and the half-year balance results) and wanted to try old old strategy (again, if resellers doesn’t rob us xD)
Redmi was supposed to be with mediatek till India banned xiaomi phones with mediatek chipset. That’s why xiaomi put crappy SD4xx in Redmi. India market is what Xiaomi wanted 😉
after the mi2 almost all xiaomi phones went high price but this new redmi note 2 its a game changer it competes directly against flagships with snapdragons 808 and 810. I think that overshadow all new releases including the one plus two, moto g 2015, zenfone 2 and well the overpriced premium for galaxy note 5. This its the real deal…. hopefully xiaomi release it outside of china, sell it at amazon
After the Mi2? The Mi3, Redmi, Redmi 1S, Redmi Note, Redmi Note 4G, Mi4 and Redmi 2 were decently priced to be honest. The only models that were more expensive than usual were the Mi Note and Mi4i.

Where do you recommend buying the redmi note 2 ? Thanks ?
You gotta wait a bit, I think. Every decent shop (Geekbuying, Gearbest, GizChina Shop to name a few) will have the phone.
Thanks ?
Thanks ?
Does anyone know if the x10 is 2 GHz or 2.2 GHz in a big/little system or are all the cores running at 2 GHz or 2.2 GHz?

Do the IR blaster and FM radio on the Redmi Note2 not find any worth mentioning in the article?
Or is it just me!
Saw that on ndtv as well.
