eMax Mini is like an oxymoron in itself, which also makes it a very interesting name. Another thing that makes the eMax Mini from UMi interesting is the fact that it comes with a Snapdragon processor — a first for UMi.
UMi phones have undergone a massive change when compared to the UMi of the past. There’s a new vibrancy in the design, and the marketing has gone to an all new level. Instead of making an entirely new sub-brand (which is a bit of a fad right now), UMi have decided to simply slap a Snapdragon SoC to the mini version of an existing phone.

The eMax is a phone that is about battery, and hence not having the processing prowess of the world’s most powerful phone is something the device can afford… like the new eMax Mini. UMi mention on their Facebook post that this new Snapdragon powered phone will have an octa-core processor on the 64-bit architecture, and we’re afraid it might be the Snapdragon 615.
Nonetheless, there’s still an official announcement about the exact CPU model pending so we’ll wait to see how it turns out!

I feel they have too much already in the works. I hope support for the original eMax doesn’t stop after Sept. 4 update, but it feels like it will since they have to concentrate on the others.
well, if lollipop will be implemented as well as stock kitkat is, they can also stop there for me. Obviously I’d like to see a few custom roms with L, but well made stock roms (like stock kk) is the only thing I ask to them, I don’t expect emax to see M since a lot of mt6752 are dying with kk on them.
I don’t expect M support for 6752 from Mediatek, they’d probably support 6753 (probably) and let 6752 die.

Nah, I’d say let it be and watch these kind of companies die. It’s fun to see them trying to squeeze consumers for all their worth by releasing half-assed products, only to get outwitted by companies like Xiaomi with their disruptive products lol.

So? They also released MTK6795 phone at an affordable price, if they want to compete with themselves then that’s their problem. From my POV as a consumer, it’s my victory.

I find it hard to believe that any serious consumer can’t see this. Do you work for those Chinese phone makers? That’s one possibility I can surmise as to why it seems so hard for you to understand. If not then well, okay.
It has nothing to do with MT6759. You said they were trying to “squeeze customers for all they are worth” by releasing a phone with a 615. And then you praise Xiaomi ( who I am a huge fan of). My question (or rather statement) to you should have been “What was Xiaomi doing when they released a phone with 615?”. This has nothing to do with the MY6795, the entire conversation is about 615. You say companies that release those phones are only trying to cheat consumers. So are you admitting the Mi4i was a half assed product meant to squeeze customers for all they are worth?

You don’t care yet you keep responding, classic! The point of my comment was no company is immune to offering a poor product, even Xiaomi has done so. That is apparently lost on you. Umi has release some very good products in the past and done quite well for themselves. Time will tell how well this one sells. But they are not trying to “squeeze consumers for all they are worth”, they are trying to release a product for a certain market segment just like Xiaomi was with the Mi4i.
not mt6752 for sure, but better than 6753 infesting almost all china phones nowadays.

i don’t have a problem with SD615. my wifes alcatel onetouch idol 3 has it and she doesn’t notice any heating issues and it runs everything just fine. i like the look of this phone, if it had 4G in the US, I’d probably give it a try. but alas…
Qualcomm might be giving those awful S615 chips by now, surely the MTK6753 is the better way to go, hell put the Snapdragon 410 i there and take 30$ off the price, at least it won`t overheat or reset/shutdown randomly.
