Blackberry Playbook Delayed but Why?

The rather splendid looking Playbook by RIM has already missed its March shipping date but what’s the reason for the delay.

Rumors circulating about the 7 inch Blackberry tablet suggest that it’s either Apples’s considerable clout that has delayed the Playbook or the lack of a Playbook optimized Adobe Flash or Air.

Apple and RIM both receive parts from the same supply chain so rumors have been circulating that the delay in the Playbook’s launch is due to Apples success with the iPad 2 causing a shortage of hardware necessary to make the devices.

We would have to believe that the shortage of parts is more likely to be upsetting the Playbook’s launch rather than lack of Adobe Flash. Motorola were happy to launch the Xoom with no Flash and Apple have launched both iPad’s with no plans to allow Flash support.

We’ll keep a close eye on the situation and let you know as soon as RIM makes a formal statement.
