Lenovo might have spent the past few years trying to build its mobile business, but they haven’t left behind their PC roots. Ahead of IFA the Chinese PC maker has announced a new budget Chromebook costing just $179.
Budget Chromebooks aren’t what Lenovo are generally known for, but that is going to change with the launch of the Lenovo Chromebook 100S.

The basic plastic laptop features a 11.6-inch HD display, Intel N2840 processor, up to 4GB RAM and 32GB internal storage for an all up weight of 2.6 pounds. Lenovo plan to launch the Chromebook 100 S in October starting from just $179, however that is probably the price for the base model, expect to pay slight more for more memory and storage.

That’s actually pretty good specs and a very good price for a Chromebook. Even if you hate idea of Chrome OS, these things make excellent Ubuntu Books. Even the ARM powered ones can run Ubuntu with little effort.
Better a decent laptop in which you can install gnu/linux without any problem.
Even regular laptops don’t always run Linux problem free, some have driver issues. But it all comes down to the user and what distro they like best. For Ubuntu, Arch, Fedora and a few others you can run it on any Chromebook without any problems.
