After months of speculation the Huawei Nexus 6P is now finally official!
During the Google event in San Francisco, the Google Nexus 6P was launched, and as expected the phone is manufactured by China’s Huawei. The 6P actually comes in a little smaller than the previous Nexus 6 and has a 5.7-inch display and measures just 7.3mm thick.
Google say that the Nexus 6P is the most upmarket Nexus phone to date and made comparisons the the iPhone 6 Plus. One such comparison is that the Nexus 6 Plus is physically similar in size to the larger iPhone, but with more display to enjoy.
Speaking of the display, the Huawei made Nexus enjoys a WQHD AMOLED display, the highest resolution screen ever to be used on a Huawei. Above and below that display are front facing speakers (yes, finally another phone with dual front speakers) and all of that is mounted on to a metal body.
Gizchina News of the week
On the rear the 6P has a 12.3 mega-pixel Sony camera hidden behind a large lens. The camera can shoot at 4K and features slow motion video. The front camera is an 8 mega-pixel sensor. The rear is also where we find a fingerprint scanner Nexus branding and the Huawei logo.
Other Huawei Nexus 6P features include USB Type C, 3450Ah battery, Snapdragon 810 processor, and 3GB RAM. A 32GB model is available for $499 in select launch areas, with a 64GB costing $549 and a 128GB model weighing in at $649.
So that’s the official Huawei Nexus 6P what do you think?
Europe getting screwed again, pricing stats from 650 euros.
Yeah, this is retarded. Just like Motorola prices in Europe.
You know EU loves the money ..so tax is high..
Price will go down fast.. and on ebay even cheaper or aliexpress..
Liked it until I saw the price and SD810. Nexus line became so successful because you got near flagship specs in a pure Android experience for a cheap price.
There’s still the Nexus 5x.
True but theres also a handful of phones on this site with comparable specs to the 6p that sell for a lot less.
How much is a lot for you and what are the models that have comparable specs?
A lot for me is subjective to the brand/phone in question. I have paid $500 for Gionee phones with midrange specs. But that is a brand I know and trust to deliver a great phone, Huaweii is not one of those brands for me.
As for phones with comparable specs just about every flagship on this site would fall into that category starting with the OnePlus Two which can be bought for almost $200 cheaper.
OnePlus Two doesn’t have a WQHD AMOLED display and OxygenOS is a joke in comparison to support that will be offered directly from google. Also, it doesn’t have a full metal body and the screen is smaller.
And the cheapest price I found is above $400, that makes it less than $100 difference. I don’t see this as a lot for someone who can afford a $400 smartphone.
WQHD AMOLED is a waste of resources, I would take a good FHD over it anyday. I found the OP2 for as low as $350 and the Meizu MX5 offers a full metal body for $330 for the 32GB version. Oxygen OS has had very good support so far, I am not even a fan of a OP2 but they do have excellent support.
Agree on FHD, but it may be a deal braker for someone who wants to use it for VR.
Where did you find it for such a low price?
OxygenOS was just born this year, we’ll see how it goes. Google has supported nexus 4 for 3 years and will still provide security updates. Is there anyone who has done better then that?
Want VR get a Sony Z5 premium, Best in class
Can’t wait to see the new sony’s VR headset that will use the z5 premium.
Look on Kimovil for prices, it finds the best prices around the web. While Google has continued to update older devices it hasn’t exactly been a good thing, especially with the move to Lollipop. The Nexus 7 and 4 have been a disaster with Lollipop, suffering from some of the most crippling bugs. Sometimes having the newest version isn’t always the best. I own both of those devices still, for the 7 the last really good OS for it was actually Jelly Bean.
Thanks, I didn’t know about kimovil.
Nexus 4 and 7 are good anyway, as there are many great custom ROMs for them as well.
I’d say in comparison to what you can get from China the Nexus range has always been overpriced… Don’t get me wrong, I love everything about the stock feel of Android and the flagship specs but this is why I originally went for the OPO over a Nexus… There was a huge difference in price but not so much in specs…
The Nexus 4 and 5 weren’t bad compared to their Chinese counterparts. But from the 6 on it has been a joke how much they are charging.
Yeah Nexus 4 and 5 where priced waaay better, one and a half year ago I even considered to buy the Nx 5 for something like €350 but then saw the Xiaomi mi3 for something like €247 and it had similar specs(if not better) and a 100€ less, So I just grabbed one and still rocking it till this day.
That was how I got started with Xiaomi. I owned every Nexus from the first one up to the 4. I wasn’t too pleased with the 4 and I thought the 5 was very boring and dull looking and the camera sucked. I ended up buying a Mi3 on advice from this site and never looked back. Haven’t owned a non Chinese phone since.
That’s because they choose wrong partners to deliver them (HTC & Huawei) mostly but their is also & change in their pricing policy.
i was looking at the phones on shop.gizchina.com when i saw the LeTV Pro (SD810 4GB/32GB) discounted at….299$
now, i know about the pros of the Nexus over this one,but 200$ more is too much.
same about the Galaxy S6… you can find on eBay for 430$.
i wish they came out with a SD808 and priced it at 359$ or even 399$.
but at this price…. ain’t gonna happen.
As Galaxy S6, it will also get cheaper on ebay after the same amount of time passes since release.
But for now the price is pretty justified in comparison to other brands.
It just doesn’t have anything new. Nothing exciting about this phone. Specifications that we’ve seen already and not really attractive price tag. Pass.
The closest real match is Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus and it costs $200 more. So the price tag is not that bad.
That’s not true nexus is all about software. So if you like stock Android with quick updates for the next 2 users you get a nexus.
Quick updates ..test group. No thanks. I liked the nexus series before when it was cheaper than the rest of the market. Now i dont see a reason to compromise.
no offence but it’s probably the most bug free experience in all of android
Well…less features less bugs. I understand you, really. Clean android is somewhat nice for some. I liked it too before.
The camera is pretty good, according to dxomark…
Pixels doesn’t play role .. pixels are how big image u want.. 12,13,14,15,16 is well enough.. sonys 20mpx is pointlesly too high no need ..
Yes I also think that 12-13 mpx should be enough for a phone, but till now the trend was to increase pixels count. I really hope that this trend has changed. I will give an example: Nokia N8 in my opinion had a great camera, with “only” 12 mpx, but large sensor and very good low light performance.
the trend is only just because ppl (buyers) are stupid.. if they see another mobile with higher mpx they will go for it .. and phone manufs are then forced to match same ”number to satisfy naive/pathetic ppl
True words my friend
I think its a 6MP front facing camera.
Nope its 8MP
Reshipping the Nexus from US might be lot cheaper than getting one from outside US.
At that price in Europe you can just grab a Axon phone (could be any other good phone) (:p
Andi didn’t like the Axon 🙂 and based on his opinion I don’t like it either.
Other good phones for this price?
Lg g4(in Europe it’s like 400€ waay underpriced) , meizu mx5/pro 5,moto x 2015, leTv pro, Honor 7, Mi note/note pro(although might want to wait for a possible Mi5),etc
The new LG V10 sounds great too but don’t know price yet
The only ones that is the closest match to nexus 6P from this list is meizu pro 5, but the screen is only Full HD (for VR might be an issue) and it has the same price.
Not in Europe bro
Agree about europe. Just the US prices make sense.
VR aside 1080 FHD is what you want with current battery technology imo
I wonder
Does Google screwing Europe has to do something with Europe screwing Google lately? (with lawsuits and stuff)
Google can easily screw Europe since Apple stretch its hole year after year
