Chinese regulatory authority TENAA has spoiled more than just one launch in the recent past. More recently, TENAA acted as the window between us and a particular Huawei phone — the Honor Play 5X.
Confirming the existence of the device, Huawei sent out press invites for October 10th, which is when the device will be launched. Honor phones from Huawei are known to be fairly affordable, while the ‘Play’ series takes it to the next level.
Gizchina News of the week
The youth-focused Honor Play 5X will have the MediaTek MT6735 SoC, which GizChina patrons will be well acquainted with. Along with that, the Honor Play 5X will feature a 5-inch 1280 x 720p HD display, a 13 mega-pixel camera on the rear, a 5 mega-pixel one on the front with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of on-board storage. The phone will also feature a rather interesting sized battery, in a 4000mAh one.
Expect the phone to be well under the $200 mark if Huawei wants to make a mark with this one. Specifically, a price tag more towards $150 than just under $200… which is also what the leaks have suggested — 999 Yuan ($157).
Huawei product is always unnecessary expensive. I doubt if this one will be below 200 USD.
Honor is not expensive compared to other European devices, it’s rather cheap to be honest. Compared to Chinese devices you might have a point.
Ahahahah compared to Official European ASUS Zenphone Honor is very expensive! It’s not cheap like you say …
They both cost around 300€ in Europe but the Honor has slightly better specs so don’t know what you are talking about. The Zenfone is also a different size with its bigger panel and format so you can’t exactly put them in the same league.
MT6735 for $150? Are they smoking crack?
It`s a known brand name, there are a few Chinese companies offering around 120-130$ MT6735 devices, but will be hard to beat the M2 in quality and price.
