UMi X2 release date is May 15th!

We’ve all been saying our prayers for a May UMi X2 release date, and if these reports are correct they have been answered with a May 15th launch date!

Earlier this month UMi started a pre-sale of UMi X2 phones where 40,000 limited edition versions of the quad-core, 5-inch 1080phone have been snapped up already, thankfully for the rest of us UMi aren’t sticking to the pre-sale model of selling and instead will hold a first come first serve launch starting May 15th!

UMi are reported to be preparing 50,000 2GBX2 models for the launch, but even with this number we don’t expect stocks to last very long when the popular phone is priced at just 1499 Yuan here in China!

The X2 will also launch in India and other countries around the globe, however no announcement on those launch dates has been made yet.

The UMi X2 features a quad-core MT6589 processor, 2GB RAM, 5-inch FHD 1080p display, 13 mega-pixel camera with F/2.0 aperture, 2500mAh battery and runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

    Now, they are forecfully shipping the old chipset of MT6589 and not Turbo. UMI mind and strategy changes like climate. Now, hopefully, and forceful delivery expected next week, let;s see, if something again undergoes change.

The question is, with the release date of the Neo being in distant march, is the Umi X2 a better bet now with the turbo version coming out?
Features I’m looking forward to in the Neo N003 are the 3000mAh battery, Yamaha speakers, OTG and MHL… does the Umi X2 have OTG and MHL?

Service center list provided by umimobiles india is fake one. I have visited one service center mentioned in the list and the reponse by them was surprising as they did not know there is a mobile brand called umi mobile. It was a LAVA authourised servise center. The service center is mentioned at the top of the list. It is apace solutions in guwahati assam. What do you think guys..???
They also said that they were in tie up with selora. Also Micromax is making an official approach for their service but as of now they are not tied up with micromax.
I have read that service centers will be activated by end of this month but its already mid of may and they dont even know a brand called umi exists. how ridiculous..!!!

So did UMI release it on 15th? OR they missed the date again as usual?
I hope they are not fake and not cheating with false promises, all the time.

  According to their homepage and the news reports here in China, yes they started selling and will continue today.

    Hi Andi i was the guy with the umi x2 broken screen, the youth model which you thought was a prototype, here’s an update, i still haven’t sent the phone back although they said they would repair it at my cost, since then the back screen covering the camera has cracked in to 5 while in my pocket, the silver around the camera has scratched easy while in my pocket, i have no interest in running any company down soon i will post a video of the the wear after a month or so average use, on the postive side, the boot is fast, the battery is good, but the gps is slow bordering to non existence. Thanks Andy, ps if you have contact with umi can you mention the build quality issues.

  I am afraid if that’s probably because no such phone (Turbo version) exists yet but still being sold?
  UMI in India (http://umimobile.in and http://umimobiles.in/) turns out to be big scam looting many people. They are not reverting to mails/calls. Unfortunately don’t know how to reach/contact their India official representatives or india office because they didn’t mention any of it on their site.

Today is June 10, almost a month over, and UMI India has not udpated to its India Customers, when exactly they would start delivering.
