Huawei Ascend Mate 2 receives network license, specification details

In preparation for CES 2014 Huawei have prepared the next generation Huawei Ascend Mate 2 for launch, so what can we expect from the new phablet? A 1080 display, 8-core processor, 4G LTE?

Late in 2012 Huawei started to leak news of it’s own big screen phone with 1080 display, we all got quite excited but were ultimately let down when the Huawei Ascend Mate launched with a 720p panel and ancient CPU, so the next generation model should solver all this then shouldn’t it?

Two versions of the Huawei Ascend Mate 2 passed though China’s equivalent of the FCC this week, spilling the beans on what the phablet will offer a second time around. Prepare to be disappointed!

Gizchina News of the week

The Huawei Ascend Mate to will get a 6.1-inch 1280 x 720 resolution display, so a 720HD panel, 1.6Ghz quad-core Huawei Kirin910 processor, 2GB RAM and a micro SD card slot for up to 64GB cards. At a time where most new phones have at least a 1080 display, 8-core processor and 4G LTE the Ascend Mate 2 isn’t all that!

Other details which were leaked include the dimensions, 161 x 84.9 x 9.54mm, weight 202g and camera details including a 2 mega-pixel front and 13MP rear sensor.

All in all quite a let down from such a large player!

At those dimensions, beneath the 720p screen it’s at least the Ascend Mate 4050 mAh battery , so if the new processor is more power efficient that the old one, Ascend Mate 2 will be again the king on battery life.
