Huawei releases their latest Android monster phablet on the Chinese phone market. The LTE equipped HuaweiAscend Mate 2 at a price of just $440!
Aptly named, the device is the successor to the popular Ascend Mate that came in exactly one year back. It featured a humongous 4050mAh battery, which played a big part in its success. This time round, we have a device that’s quite similar to the original Ascend Mate, but with a few upgrades here and there. A 1.6GHz quad-core MSM8928 (Snapdragon 400) replaces Huawei’s homegrown K3V2 that featured in the first iteration, while screen, RAM and battery stay at 6.1-inch 720p, 2GB and 4050mAh respectively. Storage gets a much required bump to 16GB, along with cameras that now stand at a 13 mega-pixel rear and 5 mega-pixel front.

Another aspect where the Ascend Mate 2 shines over the predecessor is 4G connectivity — there’s a 4G LTE enabled variant that will be available. The device is only launched in China for now, but we’re pretty certain it won’t take Huawei long before the Ascend Mate 2 is made available in other markets. The Ascend Mate 2 gets a CNY2688 price tag.
