Yesterday, Mediatek finally announce their MT6595 and surprisingly also the MT6795 to the public. In our original post we only touched on the awesome power of these new chipsets, but there is more to them that amazing Antutu scores!
Nowadays, a good processor is a lot more than just power and benchmarks. Multimedia performace, including audio and camera features are now just as important, if not more so. Mediatek know this all to well and have enabled features in their new chipsets that we have not seen from them in the past.
Supporting up to 20 mega-pixel camera sensors is only part of it, the new MT6595 and MT6795 chipsets can record “Super Slow Motion” video. Current top of the range phones are capable of slo-mo videos of 120fps at 720p, however the new Mediatek offerings can record at a mind blowing 480fps at 1080p. We could be looking at semi-professional slow motion video caught on phones from now on! Mediatek mentioned that the Sony IMX220 sensor would be supported, other sensors are sure to follow.
Gizchina News of the week
In addition to slow-motion, Mediatek have reworked HDR processing. Mediatek are prosing that HDR photos taken with the new processor will look better than pictures caught with rival products. Multi-frame noise reduction, 6-axis image stabilization and advanced face beautification for videos are some of the other features thrown in for good measure too.
The audio side of the chipsets has been improved too, with an advance DAC with 110db SNR and 24-Bit, 192KHz audio codec.
Of course this is all going off what Mediatek have been telling us. We will have to see if they make good on their word once devices start shipping.
lets really really hope that they sort out their closed source policy for this round of processors!
they must see that it would help smaller manufactures get the bugs ironed out of their phones and also go someway towards making them more accessible.
