Meizu’s mystery low cost phone alive and kicking on GFXbench

meizu benchmarks

Meizu’s Jack Wong had promised us 4 Meizu devices and the 3rd appears to be about ready to go on sale after showing up on GFX Bench flexing its affordable muscles.

Meizu have changed a great deal this year. First they have launched more than one product and their prices have been more competitive than ever. Still Xiaomi do have the more affordable Redmi, and Meizu plan to take a crack at it too!

Gizchina News of the week

The next Meizu phone looks like it is aimed squarely at the Redmi and Huawei Honor series and has slipped on to GFX Bench with a 5-inch display, 64Bit Mediatek MT6752 chipset, 2GB RAM, 16GB RAM and Mali T760. Not bad at all for an entry-level phone.

The details also state a resolution of 1920 x 1080 which could mean that Meizu are using a more common screen ratio for this new phone. Other details aren’t mentioned such as what cameras the phone supports and the battery size.

A launch date is rumoured to be before Christmas with a price of around 1300 Yuan or less.

1300 CNY would be way way too much. This one would have to be 699-899, bellow that it’s rather hard and above too much.

I believe FHD phone from Meizu, 64 bits and with the rest of specs will go at least near 1000 CNY. 999 CNY to be more precise 😉

With these specs, around 1000-1200 yuan should still be ok. Where can you find a phone with MT6752 chipset, 2GB RAM, 16GB ROM and a full HD screen around 700-900 yuan.

4.6 inch is too small for me, but if the price is good I will consider buying it.

A53 cores are replacing A7, it’s an evolution ,they don’t offer that much. The entire industry will shift from A7 to A53.
Screens are getting cheaper, 1080p is the new 720p and this one is small. They can’t be competitive by pricing it above a 5.5 inch 720p phone with similar specs and you can find plenty of those at 899-999.
A reasonable Redmi 2 would be 5 inch 1080pm quad A53 with 2GB RAM at 699, anything less is too little. Sure this Meizu has 16GB of NAND and who knows maybe 21MP cam but it’s also small and would be a hard sell against such a Redmi 2.Then 5.5 inch-6 inch 1080p will go bellow 1000CNY in the next year. How fast that transition will be depends on when the big players go for it. If Xiaomi does a Noite 2 in january with such specs, everybody will have to follow but maybe they do it 6 months later or more.

wait a second isn’t the Mali-T760 one of the best mobile GPU’s out there. Even better than the one you can find in the current MX4 or even the MX4 pro, so why should this be in a budget phone?

        MT6752 uses a 2 core Mali-T760

It will be 2 core I don’t know if this will good or bad! 40000 point It will not need too much power to run for sure! But at this size 4.6 it will have 2000-2500 battery max. The screen will great by the way with 1080.
Jiayu will offer this setup with more ram and bigger screen and battery…maybe better price also.
I will only look to the phones with 3gb ram that’s the way to go to run all smoothly.

Well it will probably be the same as it is with the processors it’s better to have a better performing cores than just putting in more cores

      yep, very odd

I get confused by that too, but i think T760 is more like a mid ranger next generation version of the Mali 450.

Woooow great news! Hope this phone will be on sale pretty soon with a 3000mAh battery or at least higher than 2500mAh (replaceable).

On the picture it’s 4.6-inches not 5, but then why have a 1080p resolution on such a small display. These specs are confusing.

    • December 1, 2014

I guess it was an engineering model, or it could be that iPod touch style player that was rumoured last time around

Now the question is, when will Xiaomi release an update of their Redmi series? Hopefully, the rumored breakup between Mediatek and Xiaomi does not have an huge affect on the release of the next Redmi series.

Considering that Xiaomi produce their own chips now, the breakup between MTK and Xiaomi will have little to no impact
