Budget octa-core phones are far from a rarity in China. However, it is only in the last few months that we’ve started to see some with decent designs.
Some might remember UleFone as makers of some popular phones back in the day. The company is resurrecting itself with the all new Be One however, and along with that, they’re giving the brand a makeover as well — with a more global approach.
Coming back to the Be One, details of the phone have been around for a bit, but it is only now that it is expected to ship. The Be One has a 5.5-inch 1280 x 720p IPS display sourced from LG, along with the octa-core MediaTek MT6592m 1.4GHz SoC. There’s 1GB of RAM to with that, and 16GB of on-board storage. The main camera on the rear is a 13 mega-pixel unit, which as you would expect comes from Sony’s facilities. An 8 mega-pixel sensor sits on the front of the phablet.

Instead of making the phablet dirt cheap, UleFone have chosen to include hardware from some known brands. Like the camera sensor (which comes from Sony), the 2350mAh battery comes either from Samsung or Sony. Now, that does sound a little low-capacity for a 5.5-inch phone, but that’s perhaps because other small time makers have been lying.
The UleFone Be One is expected to sell around the US$130 mark. Do you think it has enough quality to lure buyers?
