Huawei P8 Lite with Kirin 620 now on sale for $229

The Kirin 620 version of the Huawei P8 Lite is now on sale, and at US$230, the product looks like an interesting buy.

The Huawei P8 Lite is, as the name states, the ‘lite’ version of the P8. While the P8 comes with a more powerful Kirin 930/935 SoC, the P8 Lite runs on the Kirin 620. To go with the SoC, the P8 Lite has 2GB of RAM and 16GB of ROM on-board, so the phone is pretty much a mid-range device for those that don’t need the extra grunt of a 2015 flagship.

A 5-inch 1280 x 720 pixel screen adorns the front along with a 5 mega-pixel camera, while the rear has a 13 mega-pixel main shooter. Lastly, the P8 Lite has a 2200mAh battery, while Android 5.0 takes charge of the software department.

There’s many other Chinese phones available at US$230 and under, but there’s always a trade off that the makers make between quality and price. With this device, you might not get the specifications of say, a Ulefone Be Touch 2, but you’ll get the reassurance of Huawei manufacture.

The P8 Lite is available for US$229 via GearBest, who are also offering a free 13,000mAh Huawei power bank with the phone.

Looks nice. Small and sleek. Anyway that price will sure go up to $380 once it hits our Shores. Best purchased online.

  In Sweden it is already being sold at that price at least. Sadly the reviews haven’t been very favorable.

It looks nice like all Huawei phones but this is at best a $150 phone with those specs. Huawei isn’t a brand I would pay more money for the name.

Kirin 920 sux so badly. it’s not eveng good for $100 phone.

  The Kirin 920 is what powered the Huawei Honor 6 last year. It is a very good SoC for a mid range phone. This phone has a 620 which is their new 64 bit SoC, in the Honor 4x it got favorable reviews when compared to similar phones like the Moto G (an excellent budget option).

    Kirin 620 is very slow maybe in single threadthread application. I have Honor 4x and in Ingress game it can hangs for seconds.. I didn’t experience that with my old dualcore qualcomm krait soc in Haier w910.

      It must be either lag from your connection or a problem with your phone. Ingress is one of the least demanding games, I have seen the 4x running much more demanding games than that without a problem. I am not saying it’s a powerful SOC meant for gaming but it is no worse than other budget SoC’s like the Snapdragon 410 (which is also used on the 4x in some markets!).

        I suspecting the weak single thread performance about the soc (I measured and compared that with Antutu already..) or lacks of multi thread optimisation. I played on 4G on this phone, and on 3G on my old one on the same network. It usually happened when I played intensively and gave more commands ingame. It needs more computing I guess. Poor network performance shouldn’t result app hanging and unresponsiveness… I tried facebook lite app either and it stuttered hard on Honor 4x kirin 620. Its not totally smooth on my old phone either but more acceptable…

        If your struggling to even use the Facebook lite app that’s a problem with your phone and you should have it checked out. That runs on phones with much worse performance than a Kirin 620. Below is a video of someone playing much more demanding games like Asphalt 8 on the 4X, he notices some frame drops but its still playable.

        Thats not a kirin 620 in this video.. I’m sure that everybody else have these issues with this phone. If not because its performance, probably the lacks of compataibility and/or optimization. I don’t play with such demanding games, but want to use apps smoothly. Its essential expectation from a new phone.

        My ancient Haier w910 with an old qualcomm soc performing a way better on the same mobile network, but on LTE, and its soc more faster than which is in the 4X in single thread. I don’t say that its very fast and smooth, but don’t have second freeze in game. Just go and try it out yourself. I doubt that bad network permance can cause those freezes, which network and mobile internet is working in other apps flawlessly.

Looks like an excellent deal for $229 with the free power bank! I was considering purchasing the Alcatel Idol 3 ($250 on Amazon) as a graduation present for a friend but this looks like a better deal. However, I’m not sure this will work on 4G/LTE in the US.

  Looks like a terrible deal given the crappy processor, only 2gb of ram, and terrible battery life. Considering phones like the Lenovo k3 note go for 150$.

    It’s the same as the 4x depending on the market it was either Kirin 620 or Snapdragon 410. They offer comparable performance.

I got a news about Huawei P8 Lite. The phone will cost $224.6 at aliexpress. There will be a promotion on 16th June. I think it is a good deal
