Vivo reveal more Xplay 5 details, 2K curved display confirmed

Vivo aren’t content with releasing just one detail each day for the Vivo Xplay 5. Today, they released a total of 3 teasers for the new flagship.

I’m not afraid to admit that I am a huge Vivo fan. Regular readers will know how I feel about both the Vivo Xplay3s and Xshot, but on the flip side you will all also know how disappointed I am with the X5.

So when Vivo Xplay 5 teasers started rolling I sat up and paid attention. So far Vivo had hinted at a curved display and told us that the new phone will feature a borderless design, but 3 new official teasers today confirm more details.

The curved display is now official with 3 images that show the progression of curved panels. The result doesn’t look like what we were expecting though and seems to have more of a curve at the corners of the phone rather than the sides. It will be interesting how this will actually look in the flesh, and we also wonder how those glassy corners are going to handle drops and knocks.

Next up was a teaser accompanied by the confirmation that the Vivo Xplay 5 will have a 2K display. This is interesting as many rumours suggested a 4K panel might have made an appearance this time around. The teaser also mentions Vivo’s trademark HIFI audio.

Then we have a post on Facebook asking Vivo fans to vote on which rear cover options they would like to be available on the Vivo Xplay 5. The choices are white plastic, silver all metal, black glass and bamboo wood.

And finally the fast Vivo Xplay 5 teaser for the day is one that mentions the use of innovative materials, screen structure and breakthroughs in technology! This could be related to charging, batteries, or even camera tech, we just don’t know.

Vivo Xplay 5 rumours doing the rounds also say the phone will use 6GB RAM and a 16 mega-pixel rear camera, while it’s Funtouch ROM will be built on Android 6.0.

If they bend the corners, it’s easier to shrink the upper and lower bezels while keeping the corners round. This could be interesting.
