Up until early 2010’s, Chinese brands were best known for ripping off other popular phones. One such popular phone happened to be the Apple iPhone.
Since then, a lot has changed; today, the Chinese phone industry is threatening to take over the world market. There are some truly nice phones coming out of China; the Huawei P9, OnePlus 3, ZUK Z2, to name a few.
That said, there’s still the little bit inspiration that some companies lack, and look to other brands for. In this case, it’s BBK’s Vivo that decided to ‘recreate’ the Jet Black color option of the iPhone 7. Vivo introduced the Vivo X7 in Obsidian Black, which is basically a rip off of the super-glossy-and-scratch-prone Jet Black of the iPhone 7.
Gizchina News of the week
Vivo X7 Obsidian Black Edition Specifications & Pricing
There’s also the insides of the Vivo X7 Obsidian Black Edition. It contains: a Snapdragon 652 processor, 4GB RAM, 64GB on-board ROM, a 16 mega-pixel main camera, 13 mega-pixel front facing camera, 3000mAh battery, all packed inside a 5.2-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display (and of course, the Obsidian Black metal).
It’s going to be a limited edition device, set to go on sale in China 26th September for 2798 yuan or $420.
Very nice phone, but for that price, you will find better alternatives with SD820/1.
Vivo has a solid reputation when it comes to camera, audio, and overall built quality. One could prefere a SD652 phone with nicely tuned camera and audio to a SD820 phone with average camera and audio, as you’ll barely be limited by SoC power with SD652. It would have been different if it was a SD625 tho…
Wow iPhone owns the jet black design now :O amazing
But with phone jack ..
I really cannot understand the meaning of this article. Did Apple create the black color or do they have some kinda patent over it? So what if Vivo also used the same color Apple used on their iPhone 7?
For the fact that Mercedes Benz painted one of their car models a cream color and called it Gluxy white (for instance) doesnt mean another car company cannot give their car the same color and give it whatever suitable name they think.
This is one very good reason why I rarely come here to read any articles anymore. I come here to read about Chinese tech (Smartphones, Tablets, Laptops, Cars, Drones, ect) and not some dumb shit about the black color on the iPhone 7.
Yash …. you really should grow up man!
Don’t you get it? This is the 1st obsidian black phone out of China, all the other manufacturers are only using ‘standard’ black! Lol If you look closely enough, you won’t see any difference?
So theres ‘Standard black’ and another black ?
“For the fact that Mercedes Benz painted one of their car models a cream color and called it Gluxy white (for instance) doesnt mean another car company cannot give their car the same color and give it whatever suitable name they think.”
Nowhere in the article have I mentioned that after iPhone 7’s Jet Black, no other company can give their phone the same colour.
If course I saw this kind of comments coming, but if you look closely, the colors on the Vivo X7 Obsidian Black and the iPhone 7 Jet Black do look a hell lot similar. Add to that the iPhone 7 launched very recently, and it looks like Vivo’s looking to ride the wave created by Apple.
About “Yash …. you really should grow up man!”
… I wish I had an option not to!
@yash3339:disqus Any chance of a review of this phone?
Not very likely, but we’ll try to get one anyway.
We’re talking only about color here right why its seems like a big deal? There are tons of phones man write some reviews.
