Xiaomi’s Mi MIX 2 pops on Geekbench

The first Xiaomi Mi MIX wasn’t a particularly useful device, but it did pave the way for the company’s bigger aspirations. Now a whole year later, the Mi MIX 2 is one of the most anticipated device for the company. Before this, we only really had rumors of the device, but a new Geekbench listing for the device changes that.

According to the leak, the Mi MIX 2 will launch with a Snapdragon 835 SoC clocked at 1.90GHz octa-core processor paired with 6GB of RAM producing a whopping 1929 in the single-core test and 6431 in the multi-core benchmark. It also confirms that the Mi MIX 2 will run Android 7.1.1 Nougat.

Other rumored specs for Mi MIX 2 are 128GB and 256GB storage options, a dual 19MP and 13MP camera combo, as well as a 6.4-inch curved AMOLED display with a 2540x1440px resolution. The device also is said to pack in a 4,500mAh battery. It probably won’t be long before we see more of the device get leaked, which is exciting.

The MIX was, if we forget a moment about the Sharp’s original offering, an astounding feat, that nobody was expecting. It was a thing of beauty, and new technologIES. It paved the way for the plethora of bezel-less or near bezel-less devices, for instance.
I look forward to the next iteration.

They created a huge expectation which failed to transform into a sucess.
Hopefully they have learned their lesson and will release a durable phone that doesn’t break in pieces at the first drop.
How many broken phones on the edges i’ve seen around, its unbelievable that they released such a poorly engineered phone.

  If it’s any consolation they did say it’s a concept phone. They never marketed it as a flagship phone that could be your daily driver. I think they sort of tested the waters with the Mi Mix and now they know what they need to improve on so the Mi Mix 2 should be good. I’m just worried about the price. Don’t want to fork out so much on a phone that has no warranty.

    Xiaomi may have said that but none of the resellers are mentioning it on their website (I’ve never saw “concept phone mi mix” on the top description) same thing for the most viewed youtube mi mix reviews (check again the review from Marques Brownlee).
    I’m therefore pretty sure that the majority of the people that bought this phone never actually knew about it….
    Xiaomi doesn’t have the resources of the top 3 phones manufacturers which explain this strategy but i doubt most customers were happy about their experience… being a beta tester for 700 USD??? I would be pissed, the bottom line is that concept phones are not meant to be sold!

      cry me a river, what you think happens when you drop the samsung S8? You should expect that it breaks quite easy with almost not buffer between screen and frame. Maybe you should start to look for a rugged phone.

        I’m not sure why you are suggesting that the only alternative to buy S8 is a rugged device…there are plenty of phones which are durable out there.
        For example, I dropped my nubia z11 from 1 meter height and crashed on a corner the same way the mi mix did from 60 cm, it did not break the frame nor the glass panel…

I am a first day MIX owner and still use it as my daily driver. I don’t use a case and I don’t really see why people think this phone is bad. It’s really fast, it’s gorgeous, it has a very long lasting battery and a nice design. It has enough RAM and a fast charging USB-C port. The fingerprint reader is conveniently but on the back, very fast to unlock and the ceramic really helps, that the phone doesn’t wear off, even after 1 year without a case. The camera is not good though, which is second to me, as I have a mirrorless fullframe camera for photos.
