Another attractive smartphone from OPPO, but we’re going to learn if beauty is more than skin deep.
OPPO is well established in the smartphone market for making some unique, memorable and highly innovative smartphones. The brand has been responsible for the excelling Find range of flagships, the innovative N series of camera phones and more recently the ‘R’ series.

The current range-topper in the OPPO R series are the R11s and R11s Plus. OPPO has been kind enough to send over the R11s for me to test and review, but before we get to that we should take a look at this beauty in the flesh.

While we tend to receive either the black, white or gold versions of phones to review I’m pretty happy that OPPO decided to give me the red version of this phone. If the red isn’t to your liking then you can always choose from either champagne or black.

The red version of the R11s is also the perfect variant to show off OPPO’s Starry sky screen design feature. Basically a method of blending the red colour of the body into the edges of the display itself.

Of course the screen 18:9 panel just like all top of the line smartphones that are launching. For the R11s OPPO is using a 6.01 inch AMOLED panel (the larger R11s Plus has a 6.43 inch display) with a FHD+ 2160 x 1080 resolution. It’s early days yet, but so far the screen looks every bit as good as it sounds.

Despite the large display, the overall size of the OPPO R11s has a compact size that is more like a previous generation 5.5-inch phone. The actual dimensions are 155.1 x 75.5 x 7.1mm with a weight of just 153g.
OPPO uses many of the same internal hardware components across both the R11s and R11s Plus. What this means is both phones have the same 64GB internal memory, the option to use a micro SD card and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset.

Both phones also boast OPPO’s class-leading VOOC fast charging system, which in the case of the R11s, can give the 3205mAh battery 2 hours of talk time after only 5 minutes of charging! The charging is so fast you can actually watch the % grow!

Another area the R11s shares with the R11s Plus is the camera hardware. The specifications are super impressive with the dual rear cameras module running both a 20 megapixel + 16 megapixel combo with dual F1.7 apertures, This promises fast and accurate daylight processing and stunning low-light/night shots, but we’ll have to test this to see if the promise lives up to performance.

IF you’re a fan of selfies then you’ll love the fact that OPPO has given the R11s a 20 megapixel front camera and that the camera app has all the latest beautification features ready to go.

My review R11s comes with the international version of Colour OS 3.2 meaning that it has the full suite of language options built-in plus all Google Services are installed out of the box.

Well, as this is just an unboxing I’ll leave this first look here and get back to you all with a camera test and full review in the coming days.
