According to recent reports, the U.S. Department of Commerce announced that it would extend the Huawei’s “temporary license” for another 45 days. This would be the fourth time that Huawei and its subsidiaries will be getting an extension. However, these extensions are only there to prevent the ban from adversely affecting US companies and consumers.
According to the US Department of Commerce, the temporary general license allows US companies to conduct “specific” and “limited” export, re-export, and transfer of products or technologies to Huawei and its non-U.S. affiliates until April 1.

The statement reads that the extension is necessary to allow existing telecommunications service providers in the United States, especially those in rural areas, to continue to operate existing telecommunications networks safely. The US will decide within the next 45 days whether to continue extending the “Temporary General License.”
It is quite interesting that this is the fourth time that the US will issue a “temporary general license” to Huawei. Since May 15, 2019, the U.S. Department of Commerce included Huawei and its 68 affiliates in the list of entities. Subsequently, it issued a 90-day “provisional” license three times. First, on May 20, then on August 19, and November 18. The “Universal License” allows Huawei and its subsidiaries to engage in “specific activities”. With this license, it can continue to cooperate with networks in the US and to provide support for existing mobile services.
