Earlier today, the head of Huawei’s smartphone division, He Gang, announced that Huawei’s cheapest 5G smartphone which is also the first 5G phone in the Enjoy series, Huawei Enjoy Z 5G will debut on May 24th. The official poster shows that the Huawei Enjoy Z 5G uses a waterdrop screen with a 90Hz refresh rate. It comes with a side fingerprint sensor which indicates that this smartphone will use an LCD display.
Furthermore, the Enjoy Z 5G supports dual-mode 5G as well as a 48MP main shooter (in a triple rear camera setup). At present, there is very little information about the Enjoy Z. However, this smartphone uses the codename “Teller”. According to reports, the codename “Teller” is likely to be the 3C-certified Huawei TEL-AN00 / AN00a / TN00. These phones come with a 22.5w fast charge standard. Furthermore, it also has Bluetooth SIG certification and supports Bluetooth 5.0.
Gizchina News of the week
Well, the cheapest Huawei 5G phones presently cost about 2000 yuan ($282). This means that the Huawei Enjoy Z should be cheaper. Although there is no information on the front camera, there are reports that it will use a 16MP sensor. There are three memory configurations: 6GB/64GB, 6GB/128GB and 8GB/128GB.
As of now, there is no information on the processor of this smartphone. Since the Kirin 710F does not support 5G, this device could use the Kirin 820 or MediaTek Dimensity 820. If the latter is the case, then the Enjoy Z can actively compete with the recently released Redmi 10X. MediaTek platforms can become a lifesaver for Huawei in the light of recent events, due to the latest US sanctions. In top-end smartphones, of course, Huawei will still use the Kirin SoC. However, in the mid-range segment, Huawei could as well switch to MediaTek single-chip systems.
Since the rollout of the MediaTek Dimensity series, it appears that MediaTek no longer has problems with performance.
