Fairphone 4

Dutch-based Fairphone is here with another smartphone with 5G connectivity and a high repairability score from the French Repairability Index (9.2 out of 10). The new smartphone arrives with Fairphone 4 moniker and brings 5G connectivity. As per the company, the device is made in an ethical way with recycled materials and fairtrade gold, and ethically sourced cobalt and lithium. It’s a device that is easy to repair and you can purchase spare parts from Fairphone if something breaks down. A brand new battery costs just 29.95 Euros, the Dual-Camera module costs 79.95 Euros, while the selfie camera sets back by 29,95 Euros.

Fairphone 4 specifications

Fairphone runs with Android 11 OS straight out of the box. Also, Fairphone guarantees two major Android version updates and software support until the end of 2025. That means that the device will get Android 12 and Android 13, and the security patches should keep coming until 2025. Besides its high repairability, the device is also durable with an IP54 rating and MIL810G certification.

The Fairphone 4 flaunts a 6.3-inch LCD screen with Full HD+ resolution and Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The device uses the waterdrop notch design for the 25 MP selfie snapper. It also has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. Under the hood, the smartphone carries the Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G processor. It’s available in variants with 6 GB or 8 GB of RAM, and 128 GB or 256 GB of Internal Storage. The device also has expanded storage support via a microSD card slot.

Gizchina News of the week

In terms of optics, the Fairphone has a dual-camera setup with a 48 MP primary shooter with Optical Image Stabilization. The secondary camera is a 48 MP ultrawide snapper. There is a third hole on the back, and it houses time of flight, autofocus, and color sensors.

In terms of battery, the device has a 3,905 mAh battery with support for 20 W fast-charging. Interestingly, the Fairphone 4 comes without a bundled charger. This is predictable, after all, a company that is ecologically conscient wouldn’t put a bundled charger or cable. If even Apple says that this promotes electronic waste, we couldn’t expect Fairphone to be different. Anyway, you can get a compatible charger and cable separately. The device lacks a headphone jack, but the company offers its own true wireless earphones for 99.95 Euros.

Pricing and Availability
