Nubia Z40 passes by Geekbench with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1

Nubia Z40

ZTE is gearing up to introduce a new set of flagship smartphones under Nubia branding. The brand is said to debut two premium handsets under the Nubia Z40 series. So far, we have been hearing a lot about the Nubia Z40 Pro, while the vanilla variant has been keeping a low profile. Today, however, the vanilla decided to pay a visit to the Geekbench database. Now, we know that the performance offered by the two variants will be the same. The Nubia Z40 will pack the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 just like the Pro variant.

The Nubia Z40 passed by Geekbench benchmark database with model number NX701J. The handset scores 1,228 points in the single-core tests and 3,379 in the multi-core department. These results were made through Geekbench 5 benchmark test. Under the hood, the device brings Qualcomm’s latest offering for the flagship market – Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. This chipset, just like its major competitors – MediaTek’s Dimensity 9000 and Samsung’s Exynos 2200 – brings a 1 + 3 + 4 core configuration. It brings ARMv9 cores and a 4 nm architecture. The system on chip prime ARM Cortex-X2 core has an impressive clock speed of 3.0 GHz. It comes with a powerful Adreno 730 GPU which seems to be beyond the competition.

The database listing also confirms that the handset will come with 16 GB of RAM. Nubia is one of the companies in the smartphone scene pushing hardware beyond previous limits. The device may come with up to 512 GB of Internal Storage, considering the amount of RAM. Of course, we can expect other configurations as well. In terms of software, the handset will run Android 12 and will have its own skin running on top.

Apart from what Geekbench tells us, there is not much known about the Nubia Z40. However, the reports suggest that the device’s launch is imminent. So we can expect it popping out through certification websites and leaks in the upcoming weeks. Worth noting, that Nubia is already preparing a flagship for its gaming smartphone brand – Red Magic – for this month. The upcoming Nubia Red Magic 7 series of smartphones will debut on February 17. The handsets will also come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. However, there will be other impressive specs in the package. For instance, it will be the first smartphone to reach the market with 165 W fast charging. We are curious to see if the Nubia Z40 will also get similar treatment.
