Up until now, only Pixel phone users could enjoy Google’s weather widgets. But that’s all changing! The new widgets will work on all Android phones and tablets, giving everyone a chance to see the weather at a glance.

The new widgets look similar to the old ones, but they have some neat upgrades. The basic widget shows the city name, current temperature, and the expected high and low for the day. There’s also a weather icon and a description of what’s going on outside.
Here’s the best part: you can now tap a refresh button to get the latest weather without opening the app. Plus, the widget shows the forecast for the next six hours, instead of just four.

See More with Two Other Options
There are two other widget choices. One is like the basic widget, but it adds the forecast for the next three days at the bottom. This way, you can see if the sunshine will stick around or if rain is on the way.
The other new widget is a space-saver. It stands tall and thin and shows the city name and the high and low temps for the day. You can choose between a light or dark theme, and the dark theme even uses the old-style weather icons for a classic look.
Even More Weather Goodness
The updates don’t stop with widgets! The next version of Android (Android 15) might have a special “Pixel Weather” section in the widget picker. There’s also going to be a background service called “Pixel Weather” that will power the weather info you see in the Google Clock app.
