Bring Windows to Your Pocket: Microsoft App Now Available on iOS & Android

Microsoft has introduced a new app that allows users to stream Windows on various devices. This app works on macOS, iOS, iPadOS, web browsers, Android devices, and even Windows PCs. It lets users access a cloud-based version of Windows from sources like Windows 365, Azure Virtual Desktop, and Remote Desktop.

The new app has been in testing for nearly a year. It comes with several useful features that improve the user experience. One of the standout features is the customizable home screen, which users can personalize according to their preferences. It also supports multiple monitors, enabling users to work across multiple screens seamlessly. Additionally, the app includes USB redirection, meaning users can connect local devices like webcams, storage devices, and printers to a cloud PC. These devices function as if they were physically connected to a local computer, making remote work more efficient.

The app is mainly designed for Microsoft work and school accounts. It aims to provide a more unified experience for users who rely on Remote Desktop clients. Microsoft has a long history of offering tools for connecting to remote PCs, such as the Remote Desktop Connection app, which is still included in Windows 11. This new app serves the same purpose but provides a more modern and streamlined experience for users who need to access work computers from personal laptops or other devices.

Windows App has no Consumer Support YetWindows App

Currently, the app does not support regular consumer accounts. However, Microsoft has long-term plans to move Windows fully to the cloud. This would enable better AI-powered services and give users more flexibility by allowing them to access their Windows experience from any device, anywhere.

The Windows app is now available for download in the Microsoft Store. Users can also find it on the Apple App Store for macOS, iOS, and iPadOS. The Android version is now in public preview and ready for testing.
