When was the last time you used the DVD drive on your PC or laptop? I know there are some of you out there that do, but I and many others don’t in fact I’ve never used the one on my Macbook Pro and am never likely too, which is why this upgraded and supposedly cheaper 18.5 inch iMac clone looks so appealing!
There are plenty of iMac clones currently available in China all of which run Windows in some form or another, but each and everyone has a built-in DVD drive like the real iMac.
While it is handy from time to time to have a DVD drive most users hardly use them from day-to-day, and in some occasions it might work out safer not to have a DVD drive in the first place, if you own a bar or cafe with computers for example.

The lack of a DVD drive also mean prices are lower and less maintainence may be needed to keep your knock-off iMac in tip-top condition!
Like the real iMac this 18.5 inch clone from Shenzhen Rahway technology has an alloy body, LED screen and has all of its processing power and memory mounted in the display itself, leaving your desktop free of unnecessary clutter!
Performance wise this clone is no match for the rea iMac, but if you are using a computer for normal school and office work, browsing the web, streaming video and the odd game from time to time the 1.8ghz Intel CPU and 4GB DDR3 RAM should be plenty.
Prices are expected to be around the 2000-3000 Yuan mark depending no the hard drive you choose to spec and the accessories you want with it.
More details as they arrive!
I’m keeping my eye out for one of these all-in-one pc’s. If you install “hackintosh”, or use a “mac mini” with these, it’ll be as though you REALLY have an iMac inside of your home.
@ThinkOutsideTheBox I like to tinker about with Hackintosh’s too. Last one I had was a Lenovo netbook running Snow Leopard. I’d love to get a 21.5 inch iMac knock off and see if I can install Lion 🙂
I have my lat laptop for 2 yrs, i’ve used the DVD 3-4 times, backing up files mostly. Optical disk are entering ..oblivion slowly. As for all those all-in-one PC’s, as soon as they’ll come with a decent 10 point multitouch screen, then i’ll consider to buy one.
My question is how do you install the OS when the HD crashes or after a format? OS in USB drives is not the norm yet, or not?
they could ship them with iaktos usb pen drive in the box
